We cannot recommend Cook’s Academy enough! The staff is incredibly caring and attentive to the children. Kelly Cook is always present and part of day to day operations! This is so important to us as most owners are never visible and have no idea what’s going on at their place of business. The facility is very clean, safe, and full of fun activities for the kids. I feel at ease knowing my child is in such good hands at Cook’s Academy. Thank you for providing such a wonderful environment for our son over the last 3 years!
Cook's Academy was an absolute blessing. They had availability, and were extremely flexible in easing our daughter into the program on a 2/day week plan with the ability to upgrade to 5 days without any kind of waitlist. They don't nickel and dime you on before/after care hours and make payment very simple and transparent. The facility is clean, secure, and they have tons of options for indoor and outdoor play. We were always notified when kids in the same room were sick with something more than a cold and were communicative about activities and receptive to inquiries/feedback. As is standard in today's economy/work environment we did observe regular turnover, but everyone they brought in was always professional, pleasant to interact with, and caring towards our daughter. She absolutely loved school and I think the easy transition had everything to do with the level of care, love, and attention she received there. Can't say enough good things about Kelly (the owner), her staff, and the school. For her, it is clearly a labor of love. You can rest assured your children are safe and well cared for at this facility.
My 21 old started going to Cook’s academy last September. We had an absolutely wonderful experience with the teachers and the staff in his classroom. As soon as he turned 25 months he was transitioned to the other classroom. The teachers there are super rude. To mention specifically the few factors that were making us feel very uncomfortable:- 1. They do not smile or look happy when children walk into the classroom. We noticed an unwelcoming expression on their faces. Also they were pretty rude to the other 2 year olds. I am sure other parents with children in that classroom feel the same way. 2. We observed them sitting most of the time. Energetic toddlers need caretakers who are hands on and quick to respond to their several important needs. 3. We observed our son’s face completely covered in snort when we picked him up, which obviously wouldn’t be the case if they were really taking care of it. 4. We observed kids who had been going to that classroom for a couple of months crying to go back to their previous teacher. We didn’t see happy kids in the classroom. 5. The Owner is absent most of the time. Although she seems friendly, her attitude is very unprofessional especially when we decided to pull our child out of the academy. She didn’t reply to our email for several days and we had to keep calling her up in order to get our remaining balance. To specify she charged us $1500 for sending our child to the academy for only 8 days. 6. My child fell sick very often. Honestly I wouldn’t advice any parent who has a child of that age to enroll them into the daycare.
They are severely understaffed and have been reported to the state several times for being out of ratio in the past two years. The owner has no interest in listening to parental concerns and refuses to communicate in an effective manner with parents about their child's care. They will keep your child alive, but do not expect much else from them unless there is a change in management. I highly recommend you contact LARA and get reports from the state prior to enrolling your child in this school.
worst place to send your kids as the staff is untrained, rude, unwelcoming and can‘t even communicate properly with kids. Make shift teachers doesn’t even look to have any motivation to teach kids anything. Teachers do not smile or look happy when children walk into the classroom, with unwelcoming expression on their faces.
