Ask them why the doors were locked 10/7? Hot Springs, Arkansas do better for your community. They get paid for what... to tell the community the Government is shut down. I guess Walmart is where meetings were held to, right? Oh anyone who needs help call salvation army at least they answer the phone. This office needs to be audited.
Thankful we do have somewhere that will help with things when your struggling however the way they have it set up to obtain assistance is ridiculous. Most people needing assistance don't have reliable transportation, the office is way out, they require you to drop your form off in a box outside while a number of staff are just sitting there unwilling to take care of any questions or possibly accepting documentation already ready. Then they call you to come and drop off the documentation needed that you already had on you when dropping off the form. Then they will call and need additional forms filled out and dropped off. It's like they try to discourage or make it impossible to get through the process for people who may need it most.
They have electricity assistance right now, and they do emergency assistance on utilities (gas and electricity) or court order evictions. Among other programs, Mrs. Jackson was amazing and gave me everything I needed to get filled out for them, yes it's a process to get all the stuff they require, but they definitely do help you! I really had a great experience with them and her!
