What Parents Say
Columbia Greenhouse Nursery School receives universal praise from parents for its dedicated teachers, warm learning environment, and progressive play-based curriculum. Parents particularly highlight the school's leadership expertise in NYC kindergarten admissions advising and each child's individual development. The school is recognized as an Upper West Side institution that fosters a strong sense of community.
My review cannot possibly give this phenomenal school and amazing community its proper due. The teachers and the administration are second to none. My eldest attended for three years and my youngest is currently there now. The love of learning that both of my children have is an absolute joy to behold. Each child had the utmost enthusiasm to attend school (and there was never a fight in the morning)! My love for this special place cannot properly be expressed, but I will still try: the teachers are devoted, loving, nurturing, kind and such experts in their fields. Learning and play go hand in hand and these tenets are truly upheld at Columbia Greenhouse. Following Greenhouse, children truly have a plethora of options to pick from, and administration (specifically Renee) is an incredible wealth of knowledge. Her understanding of NYC schools (public, private and specialized) is unmatched. More importantly, her understanding of EACH CHILD is truly incredible. We went through the Kindergarten admissions process (which is WILD) and felt confident every step of the way and felt truly blessed by and with our outcome due in no small part to Renee's guidance and her expertise. It should also be noted that Greenhouse and Renee are incredibly well known and respected in schools throughout NYC and it felt incredibly special to have that consistently called out and acknowledged during our kindergarten admissions process. I love Columbia Greenhouse and am so grateful to have been fortunate enough to have been (and to continue to be) a part of this dynamic, diverse and incredible community.
Columbia Greenhouse Nursery School has been everything I wanted for my daughter's introduction to school and learning. It is a place filled with respect and love for children's natural curiosity and interest in exploring their world. The teachers and administrators are outstanding. It is a warm and supportive community.
Columbia Greenhouse is an incredible nursery school with classes from 2yrs to pre-K. Both of my children have attended, and it is a loving, supportive learning environment with excellent teachers and a warm family network. The kids learn through play, and the experienced teaching team is skilled at supporting their development from very young through more advanced exploration. School Leadership really gets to know each kid, and guides and advises each family through the specific needs of their child. Leadership is very knowledgeable about both private and public school systems and is supportive of each family in their individual process of research and application for Kindergarten. Greenhouse has excellent exmissions - I know kids who have moved on to several of the top private schools as well as great public schools including Hunter and Manhattan School for Children. I felt like I had a professional NYC Kindergarten admissions advisor/therapist walking me through that challenging process. We got really lucky to have learned about Columbia Greenhouse when we did. It’s an absolute Upper West Side gem!
