Essential Service with Exceptional Volunteers – A Must-Read for New Visitors! I am writing this review specifically for the wonderful Food Pantry service offered at Coker Methodist Church every Thursday. As someone who has relied on this service about 10 times over the last year, I can confirm it is an absolute blessing to our community, providing essential groceries with dignity and care. The volunteers here are kind, organized, and truly dedicated. I want to give a massive thank you to Wayne in particular. He went above and beyond to provide clear, essential information about the logistics, which saved me and hopefully many others a lot of unnecessary waiting time! Crucial Advice for Visitors: Please note that the food trucks do not arrive until 11:00 AM, and serving cannot begin until the delivery is fully processed. I used to arrive very early (7:30 AM or 8:30 AM) and often waited up to four hours, so I tried coming at 6:00 AM to be first. Wayne clearly explained that because the truck time is a fixed constraint, coming excessively early makes virtually no difference in when you receive your food—you'll still wait until the food is ready around 11:00 AM. This clarity was invaluable. Wayne was precise, kind, and helped me realize that coming later (e.g., closer to 9:00 AM) still guarantees your spot without the long, dangerous wait on the side of the road. Thank you to Wayne and the entire team for your clarity and your generosity! You are truly a lifeline.

I'm not a Methodist, but I delivered a eulogy recently at Coker for a good friend. My interactions with clergy and church staff were related to the funeral only, but I think they were well representative of Coker Methodist Church, a historically important church which used to be on what was the far north side of San Antonio. It was so long ago, the church has it's own graveyard. And full disclosure, my wife was an employee of Coker Methodist several years ago as a weekly teacher of preschool music students. The funeral service was held in what was historically the second of four church buildings constructed for church worshippers. It is well furnished and maintained, and I estimate it will hold about one-hundred people. Besides a platform for a lectern, a piano or organ can be used. A large fellowship hall served as a gathering place after the funeral service. The cremains of my friend were to be buried at the church graveyard at a later date. The campus itself has grown dramatically over the years. The newest building, the Wellness Center, was built just a couple of years ago. There are numerous buildings for education, day school and a gym. I attached several still photos of the campus. Coker Methodist Church can be accessed from the new Wurzbach Parkway or the older North Loop Road. Please remember a church is more than buildings. My interactions with clergy and members were very good and enlightening.

100 negative stars(-)The management that handle food bank are terribly lacking in empathy especially fr a person name Westberg talking dwn to individuals threwing food in car showing complete disrespect , I for one was trying to help a black couple w/ there food by driving there items to there home due to fact that they were on bikes & was completely denied, there management should be given a test on empathy because there lacking a boat full !!!! The management should meditate on Martthew 25:40 " When you done it unto the least of these u done it UNTO HIM"

Come visit our church. Beautiful campus with a rich history. Imperfect people walking together on this faith journey; no judgements, just love. God loves you!

I called to obtain additional information on the food bank service, the receptionist was wonderful and patient. God bless her heart.
