What Parents Say
Clemson Child Development Center receives mixed reviews. Several parents praise the staff quality, curriculum, diversity, and care across multiple age groups. However, other parents report serious concerns about supervision, staff responsiveness, classroom management, and inadequate handling of behavioral issues.
I could not have been happier to have chosen the Clemson Child Development Center as my daughter’s home away from home for the first three years of her life! We enrolled her in the center when she was 11 months old. We experienced almost every class: The Infant Room, The Ones Class, The Twos Class and the Threes Class. The teachers, assistants, custodians, and lunchroom ladies are exceptional. The director and receptionist are top notch as well. I knew when my daughter was dropped off every morning she would receive the best care in Clemson.
We feel very fortunate to have been able to enroll our child in 4K here this past year. We saw his language and vocabulary leap within the first week. This school is not exclusive and is multicultural and diverse in it's student population and staff. That has been a big bonus for us and our child in shaping his view of his world. The administration is very professional and approachable and make a point of developing relationships with the students. The teachers are friendly and positive in general. The 4K teachers are outstanding. (They are the only ones I can speak on.) Their dedication and education level is outstanding. Recess is a high priority. Conflict resolution and good social behavior is also. The field trips have been exceptional and enlightening. We are very satisfied with the level of academic education our son has received as well. We will miss CCDC tremendously as he moves into 5K! Our gratitude always for making our first year in Clemson so wonderful.
My daughter went to CCDC for 9 months when she was one and a half. That was the worst time of my life. She was bitten by another child (the same child) more than six times, and was scratched on her face more than three times. (She is four now, and she still has a scar on her face.) The director allowed the aggressive child who bit my daughter and many other kids and even teachers to stay in the class all the time. Besides, I also thought the teachers didn't really care about kids. They would sit in their chairs watching two kids fighting over toys, and only when one started to scream or cry, they would stand and yell at the kids. I blamed myself to choose such a daycare for her and let her stay for 9 month. I literally worried about her all day at work. As soon as we had another option, we quit the daycare.
My son attended this school about 3 years ago. The twos class was great when Jessica was the teacher but once we moved up to the threes it was horrible. The teachers didn't even want my son in the class because he wasn't fully potty trained but he started to regress in the twos so we tried him out anyway. One teacher who uses a walker was always rude to us and the other teacher was too. My sons dad picked him up one day and said my son was outside with no shoes on eating tree bark and the teachers were standing there doing nothing. I came in to shadow him and they hardly ever did anything on the curriculum. During what was supposed to be story time they just had the kids hold the books and didn't even read to them. Two days they didn't give the kids snack. I asked them if they would help my son with his pants button because he has trouble and the lady responded "if we have time" I was furious. I pay money every week and u can't help my child if he needs help. I left and never brought him back and when I brought it up to the director she didn't do anything and I talked to several other parents who removed their kids from that class as well.
Staff friendly and good with all children
