City Of Decatur - Project R.E.A.L.

Heading towards Atlanta Ave parallel to College Ave, a destructive pothole on Howard Ave flattened my right tire & severed the passenger side control arm of my vehicle. There's white circles spray painted all over, but the one that broke my wheel did not get outlined. It was deep & invisible amongst the bevy of divets. It caused such a thud that I screamed as I went over it. My car sits relatively low. So I have no clue if it will be salvageable or how much repairs will end up costing me. All I know is that the bill will be forwarded to the city for full reimbursement. The neglect of the roadways to such a degree that it's rendering unsuspecting motorist immobile is totally unacceptable. Clearly someone has been out there to survey the area. So the department has already been made aware a problem exists & still nothing of any consequence has been done to remedy the issue. At this point the matter is a major hazard, & should not be left unattended a day longer. To do so would inevitably jeopardize the public's physical safety, cause additional damage to their personal property, & result in preventable financial distress. The entire right hand lane needs to be shut down until such a time that repavement is made priority.

Very slow response on the simplest of requests to the engineering staff. I work for other city and county engineers and Decatur has the worst response time of any, along with a poor customer service attitude. The support staff, however, are very good.
