I have 2 accounts with citi and one has been a pleasure and the other has been a complete nightmare. When I tried to get to the bottom of an email an issue. Mr. Ethan…..ESL very obviously couldn’t understand me nor I him, asked me to ID the primary account holder to which I answered I am the only person on the account. The next 2 & 1/2 hours were spent in circle talk hell. Without question the worst customer service experience in history. Finally the person he transferred me to asked me to ID a couple charges and I have never purchased anything from the named company. I spent the next hour asking for a supervisor and was blatantly refused. “Ethan” kept saying I had to Identify this fictional primary account holder. It was infuriating. He tried multiple times to get me to hang but I kept asking for a supervisor to which he read from the script again. So now I have someone in charge of an account that I’m responsible for and not a soul at Cite can use logic or reasoning. I will have to go to Home Depot and have them escalate this. Banks like this are why Credit Unions will always be a better option.

I really wished I could give this company a negative star. They are horrible and a bunch of criminals. Citibank froze my account on 10/31/25. Because my phone is not in my name. I called and really attempted to cooperate to get this resolved. I was told I had to wait for a letter in the mail. Day 18 no letter and Citibank refuses to help me. I lost my water and struggled to feed my family. They are able to send me emails telling me they will complete a transfer out of my Chime and send me my statement but refuse to send me anything to unfreeze my account. I reached out to the Citi Executive Response team for help and I was told since I reached out to Better Business Bureau and Office of the Comptroller of the Currency they could add 15 business days for every contact. So I can expect to hear nothing till 11/26/25. Almost a month to gain access to my account. Please beware when you trust your money to this bank. I think the celebrities that sponsor this bank need to be aware that they are being paid with money the company stole from consumers.

Chase Bank had to lock my accounts since on September 15 my identity was stolen. The check I sent to pay my bill (in full), was returned to Citi Bank. I was then charged a $30.00 fee for a returned check by Citi Card. I called and explained what happened, but they refused to refund my $30.00 late fee. I’ve been a great Citi Card customer for many, many years. However, under these circumstances, I will shred my card and NEVER deal with any part of Citi Bank!!!

I have had a lot of bad experiences with Citibank. It seems like they buy out a credit card and right after that the card becomes worthless. I have closed multiple accounts because of it. But it seems like whenever I thought I was free of Citibank they buy out another credit card. I really loved my AT&T Universal Card originally issued by Universal Bank. If you need a credit card look elsewhere.

The closed my account for no reason saying I had been fraudulent when I had no idea a subscription was trying to pull out multiple times and I don’t hold money in that account. Now I didn’t receive my check and they have refused to tell me why they closed my account and I still have no idea where the money in my account is and I missed a pay day cause they closed my account the day my direct deposit pays. They could not call our email me when they thought something was wrong with my account.
