What Parents Say
Church of the Savior Nursery School in Paramus receives predominantly positive reviews praising the caring staff, welcoming community atmosphere, and strong educational foundation across multiple program levels. However, one parent reported significant concerns about their child's experience in the PreK 4 class, including inadequate support for social integration and a teacher who was dismissive of the child's struggles.
Great nursery program. We did “happy times” which is a program where moms/caretakers bring child and allow play, snack and socialization while still staying in the room. Then we did “all by myself” where my son was dropped off for half a day by himself and he loves it. We did prek 3 as well and I cannot say enough about the program and the caring teachers in this facility.
Cannot say enough amazing things about COS nursery school. The staff is so caring, loving, and welcoming to each and every child and their families. Our daughter went there for prek3&4 and we’re sending our little one there soon. We couldn’t be happier! Thank you for all of the amazing work you do for our children.
This school makes you feel like family. COTS provides a loving atmosphere for children to grow and thrive socially, emotionally, and academically. My son attended ABM at 2 1/2, the 3 year old and 4 year old programs. He was more than ready to begin kindergarten come September! Thankful for the foundation provided at COS and we come back year after year for all the wonderful annual events.
I enrolled my daughter from reading all the excellent reviews on town fb group page. She attended preK 3 class and enjoyed her school and made few friends. However, when she moved up to preK 4, I noticed many changes that were alarming and concerning (increased anxiety, tantrum, etc). She also started to verbalize how other kids were excluding her from plays and talking badly about her. I met with her teacher several times to address our concerns but nothing was done. Instead of addressing the concern and trying to help her, the teacher blamed things on my daughter, and her reasons include she likes to be alone, she wants to be isolated because she’s jealous and even said she basically will not improve within the year. We were given pamphlets on introvert child and was basically told to accept her as who she is. I felt the teacher couldn’t be bothered and she expected her to know how to socialize as a 4 years old. Things became bad enough that we felt it would be better to just keep her at home and pulled her out of school. But luckily, we found another school and enrolled her few weeks later. At the new school she was able to socialize, make friends became very vocal and was very happy. We noticed decreased anxiety and tantrum as well. The teacher in new school made sure she’s included in all plays and do all activities in groups. She was able to do all the things that the COTS teacher said she won’t be able to do within TWO weeks! Till this day, my daughter says that was the worst school she had attended and how horrible she felt at that school. I understand there are other students & parents that loved this school. My daughter just needed a little more guidance and care which was not provided from her preK4 teacher. I would not recommend this school.
It’s an amazing community filled with educators who care for your child as if they are their own. Highly recommend if you want a balanced educational foundation for your child.
