What Parents Say
Childscape Learn and Grow II receives overwhelmingly positive reviews from most parents, with 8 five-star ratings praising the caring staff, low turnover, educational curriculum, and children's enthusiasm for attending. However, one detailed one-star review alleges serious safety concerns, including incidents of child abuse by teachers, management dishonesty about incidents, and a culture of discouraging staff transparency with parents.
The best daycare we could have ever asked for. We recently moved out of state, and I don’t think we’ll ever find anything that compares. Our daughter started as an infant (now 18 months old) felt instantly at home at Childscape. Leaving your tiny baby is never going to be an easy thing but they made the transition as seamless as possible. The teachers and administrators were always so loving, attentive, and fun. They created such a safe, warm, and genuinely happy learning environment. Every day we were greeted with smiles, and our daughter got warm hugs and familiar faces. The staff turnover is extremely low, so the kids always have consistency and you can tell the teachers truly enjoy being there, which makes all the difference. Our daughter looked forward to going every single day. She’d run into her classroom and come home smiling. We will miss our Childscape family so much!
Both of my children (a preschooler and a toddler) experienced incidences of abuse at this daycare from two separate teachers. The teacher in my toddler’s classroom was fired (the other is still there and is considered a “mentor and role model”), and management bent over backwards to tell the parents as little as possible regarding what she was fired for to “protect her privacy.” They labeled her firing a “cultural difference,” and when my wife spoke to management they denied physical abuse of any kind took place, while also admitting to my wife that the teacher said she knew where where the cameras couldn’t see her hitting a child. The subsequent investigation by the State of Ohio eventually confirmed that this teacher did hit a child (one of my child’s classmates), so management just lied to my wife’s face about an incident of child abuse they were aware of. The state investigation found more than just that one incident, and the findings of the investigation are publicly available on the Ohio Dept. of Children and Youth’s website listing daycare inspections and investigations. You are on a “need to know” basis regarding what happens to your child at this place. If there is an incident involving your child, and your child cannot communicate it to you, there’s a very high chance you will never hear about it. I only knew about the incident with my older child years later, because she didn’t realize that her preschool teacher throwing her doll in the trash as punishment for potty-training mishaps was wrong. Additionally, there’s high turnover at the daycare, and they favor teachers who do what management tells them and keep their mouths shut with the parents and the state. Many staff members are also family friends or longtime friends of other staff or management, so there’s another huge conflict of interest when your friend ends up being a terrible fit for childcare and needs to be held accountable. You will be taking a huge risk sending your children here. There are a handful of good, honest people working there who I think are stuck in a bad situation. But this is a daycare being run by people who are willing to lie to parents about child abuse to protect the center’s “5-star” reputation. Who are more interested in mentoring teachers with track records of abuse than firing them and having to make an effort to hire and train someone else. Who put in significantly more effort making sure daycare staff keep their mouths shut when parents ask uncomfortable questions. This is not a place that has your children’s safety as its top priority, and that is deeply alarming.
I'm so thankful we found this place. Our daughter has been going here since she first started in the infant program. I don't have enough great things to say about Childscape Learn. My daughter loves coming here so much, she always asks when she gets to go back to daycare (even on the weekends!) I can tell she loves and trusts her teachers by how she always gives them a goodbye hug and doesn't want to leave when it's time to pick her up. When I pick her up, she always has something new and exciting to tell me that she learned that day. She's always talking about her teachers and how much she likes them. This is more than just a "daycare" -- all of their lead caretakers have education degrees. My child and I love this place so much, that I was still willing to keep my daughter here even if it meant I now have a 90 minute commute to pick her up after I changed jobs. Rhonda, Kelly & Crystal have always stood out to me by how nice, hard-working, and down-to-earth they are. I always love getting to stop and chat with them in the morning when I have the time. This place feels like a second home for my daughter. I know that my daughter is going to miss this place once she starts school later this year in the Akron Public School System. The only thing I wish is that the evening administrators knew how to access the payment system so I could check my balance and pay when I pick my daughter up.
We have trusted Childscape with all three of our children. They continue to learn and grow from their younger classrooms up to school age. It’s so difficult to find reliable care and they have always met our needs. The kids feel safe and the staff makes sure they truly are.
Childscape is a 4-star rated center through step up to quality . All of the lead teachers have ECE degrees and they use creative curriculum lesson plans which are applied in each classroom. This is a wonderful place for your children to grow & Learn !!!!
