What Parents Say
Child's Conceptions (Pooh Corner) has highly polarized reviews. Positive reviews praise caring, invested staff, thoughtful curriculum, and strong community. Negative reviews cite serious concerns about leadership, cleanliness, supervision, deposit refund practices, and limited learning materials.
My child started attending Pooh at 5 months and stayed for about a year, until we recently moved and had to change daycares. The staff are wonderful and so caring. They are so invested in the children and are genuinely excited to see the growth and wins the kids experience as they develop. My child loved it there and we were very sad to leave. They took amazing care of him and I am very grateful.
Our kiddo has been at Pooh for over three years and our whole family loves it. The new Director is a consummate professional and very receptive to parent questions and concerns. The teachers are warm, caring, and attentive to the kiddos and the curriculum is thoughtful and creative. Our kiddo has learned so much from the teachers at Pooh - we are so thankful to the Pooh community.
I cannot begin to express the incredible impact Pooh Corner has on our 3 children who attended there, or on our whole family. It is an amazing school with real learning based on the children’s interests, true love for our kids, and a built-in community of the coolest parents and teachers around. We moved too far to keep going there, but we miss it every day.
This place is horrible. The teachers are great and some are caring but I was there for awhile and some of the teachers are low skilled and are just okay with developmental skills. But the director, is absolutely the worst. She is not kind. She is pushy, controlling and condescending. If she has your money or disagrees with you on anything she will treat you very poorly. Before I left, I spoke to a number of parents that absolutely despise her but stay only because they like a teacher or two and/or they don’t want to disrupt their child’s time there. She is a very nasty person. If you start there, you will see this via her overbearing rules and constant emails. It’s seems like your being informed and helping the “community” but the messages get demanding (insert harassing to “do things correctly”) and condescending and the rules get weirder. This woman should not be in the child care business. And the place is just not that clean. Kids usually get sick but kids get sick all of the time here because it’s old floors, furniture, and carpet. And your paying top dollar. You don’t know how bad this is until you go somewhere else. I’m at a new more welcoming day care that’s super clean and the staff all have degrees in child development and I can’t believe the difference. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my enemy. Beware. if I could give this less than 1 star I would.
Really disappointed by this place. I was excited for my son to start and pay deposit of $400.00 to hold his spot. I got a job opportunity in Virginia and told the director about it, straight up she told me it was not refundable. After couple conversation, she told me that if she finds a family to fill the spot she would refund the deposit. 2 months later, I checked and she told me that she was still trying to fill the spot which I do not believe. We have been on the waiting list for almost a 1 year and suddenly there is no family to fill the spot because she doesn't want to refund the deposit ? Well, as of today I did not get my money back. Moving out of state is expensive and even that she was not understanding to at least refund part of it which I suggested. Thank you for that. And I heard that I am not the only one.
