Children'S Discovery Center

We have a 2 y/o and 4 y/o that attend The Children's Discovery Center and love going! The staff is very friendly and have a genuine compassion for children. If you like having your kids play outside in a natural setting this is the place to go! The outside play area they have created is phenomenal and great for the kiddos! There are plenty of activities to keep the kids learning and engaged. The classrooms are warm and inviting and easily keep kids stimulated. Our kids love Ms Debbie and Ms Stacey’s nurturing and fun personalities. Overall great experience so far!

Two star because it’s a convenient center for parents that work in the greater Portland area. The owner of this building has closed down in my family two times in under 3 years. We started attending Dec. 2019. The first time was late December 2020 a teacher gave notice and he couldn’t hire someone new. Turns out, he took this time for “renovations”. Four months later April 2021, we find ourselves back with new staff, similar kids and growing center. Only to close down, mid-summer 2023. He was fully staffed. Happy parents. The teachers say he does not treat them well or have professional boundaries. He has passively cleared my car of snow even after I cleared my own car, just must not have done it well enough. The play area and structures have not be updated. Teachers do not get reimbursed for their activities. Overall — poorly run center management wise.

I have a two year old daughter who attend children's discovery centers toddler program and I could not be happier with her care. It is a warm natural comforting environment that my daughter looks forward to attending every day. She is well cared for an always clean upon my pick up no matter what the time is. I receive a daily written sheet of her day including her meals bathroom use and nap times. the staff are all certified in cpr first aid and transportation safety ad the location is IDEAL for a child who likes to be outdoors.

Both of my little ones attend CDC and I work in the infant room! I've been in love with this place ever since my son started! He's always been well taken care of and has made so much progress since he's started too! He's now in the pre k room writing his name, learning letter sounds and how to write them! My daughter is in the toddler room and they're always doing exciting things to keep her interest!

We had a very negative experience at the Children's Discovery Center. the teachers, for the most part, were wonderful and you could tell they deeply cared for my son. However, our negative experience had mostly to due with the director and how he handled a preventable accident that occurred with my son while at daycare. He was very unprofessional and lacked the knowledge of state licensing guidelines and his own center's policies. We ended up pulling my son from the center due to his response, or lack there of.
