What Parents Say
Children's Center of the Upper Valley receives highly polarized reviews. Most parents praise the clean facility, caring teachers, individualized attention, and strong parent communication. However, a minority of recent reviews report serious concerns including safety issues, inadequate staff response to incidents, understaffing, and poor classroom management.
I RECOMMEND THIS DAYCARE!! Out of all the childcare places I observed around this area and VT I would say this one is the best one out here is my reasoning: it’s very clean!! The toys are up to date. the teachers don’t only just watch your kids they bond with them, they teach them, they interact with them, they build an actual relationship with the kiddos I’ve seen the teachers build connections with the parents and as a parent I’m so glad they do because like I wanna know who watching my kid. I’ve never been at a work place that cares so much about each other and treats each other like family. I love every single classroom in there but I’ll love to give some shout outs chels, lily and kat in the sprouts 🌱. I just wanted to thank you guys for being so gentle with the baby’s and actually like wanting them to grow, and I THANK you guys for not letting the baby’s cry or (cry it out) it’s a big no for me and I just thank you guys for that and even having a genuine bond with the baby’s and caring so much for them and thank you chels for having good communication with the parents as someone with a first born I had bad anxiety and I thank you for reassuring me I also thank you guys for knowing what each and very baby needs because there’s a lot of baby’s in there and I appreciate you guys for taking that time to know each baby and thank yall for sanitizing and wiping down everything and actually following the rules this goes for all classrooms too something I’ve observed this vs other childcare places is that this childcare place actually follows the policy/rules they are very strict on that and I appreciate that so much as a parent. I didn’t know much of the girls in the lady bug room but I’ll like to give a shoutout to Stef that works in the room and she’s so amazing with the kiddos again having a genuine communication with the parents again she teaches the kids not only just watching them!! (I’ve seen so many childcare places that just watches the kids and not teach them) she has so many fun activities in the room and another thing she doesn’t yell at the kids out of every childcare place I appreciate this one for redirecting the kids and not yelling at them thank you. Shout out to Lindsay the lunch lady there I appreciate her for always being so kind and making sure the kids and staff have full belly’s, cooking and preparing meals is a lot something I could never do props to her👏🏼💕, lastly I’ll like to shout out to amber in grizzlys she’s so caring and so kind she’s so observant with every kid and I love how she can point at each student and tell me things she loves about each of them she’s so good at activities there, let’s the kids have fun, let’s the kids be goofy, she redirects the kids instead of don’t do this don’t do that and I just see a lot of how I wanna teach in her. So if you are looking for a good childcare center for your kid CCUV is the way to go.
I wish I could give this place negative stars. I genuinely never write reviews for places, and it has actually taken me about a year to cool down enough to write a review for this place without every expletive I know. My son was at this facility for only a few months as a stopgap until our spot opened up at another daycare. I found the teachers to be very rude and unhelpful, I caught them speaking to the children quite disrespectfully, it made me deeply uncomfortable that they did that with no parents were around. My son came out hysterically, crying every single time I picked him up. He was never once happy there. That might be because he got bit five times in one week, including twice in one day. Apparently it was all from the same kid. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the teachers never told me their plan to make sure this didn’t happen again. They treated me with big O attitude when I showed appropriate concern. I understand very well that biting happens, but in the other to Daycare’s he has been since then he has never been bitten, not once. they never made an effort to rectify the issue, including separating the children. And they wouldn’t talk to me about it in writing, they refused to do that, in fact, which I found a little suspicious. I considered reporting them, but my child got out of there pretty quick, so I let it be. if you have any choice at all, do not send your child here. Frankly shocked the place is still open.
I saw that a lot of the critical reviews were from quite a while ago. My experience here with my 18 month old son has only been positive. All the teachers have taken the extra time with him he needed at first to get comfortable, and now he loves going!
I will start this review saying there are maybe 2 -3 teachers that are pleasant but beyond that this center is a horrible choice for your family. I had my child here for about 2 years total. The first 1.5 years was great, no issues, my son loved it. Things drastically changed in the last 5 months that are completely unacceptable. I addressed concerns with the director and the board, wrote an 800 word letter to the board giving insight of my concerns. Nothing was done. There is straight up safety and neglect concerns with this center. My son who I pulled from the center mid week with no back up plan due to the issues that were arising. He has been in a new center for 2 weeks and he is an absolutely different kid. He was SCARED to go to the Children's Center and would fight me every morning about it and with this new center he is dressed and ready for school without my prompt. I know I am not the only family that pulled their child due to concerns, I know they have lost multiple families in the recent months for the same concerns. They will pull wool over your eyes and try to convince you different.. don't believe it! Your child will get hurt, they won't tell you how or why- most times unless another parent saw they probably won't tell you at all. They are under staffed, have no control over most kids, select teachers HATE being there and are very verbal about it, even in front of parents, it's a chaotic environment with no structure.
My children have gone here for 2 separate durations. The first time, my son was in the infant program and was underfed throughout his time there to the point that we went to the doctor's because he ate constantly at home but wasn't gaining weight. This second and final time, my son is now 2 and has been repeatedly coming home with bite Mark's and the school does nothing. My daughter (3) has a blonde woman that I refuse to call a teacher that feels that yelling at a group of 3 year olds is proper conduct. At this rate I'd like to start an investigation into abuse and negligence.
