What Parents Say
Reviews are highly polarized. Positive reviews praise warm, friendly staff, good activities, and detailed daily reports, particularly for backup care. Negative reviews cite administrative inefficiency with allergy documentation, poor front desk customer service, lack of illness notifications, and concerns about staff behavior.
While they are strict about disclosing potential allergies, I've found the teachers to be warm and welcoming. My son always leaves this center with a smile on his face and loves all of the activities. I was hesitant to take him to this location because of the reviews, but I've found it to be a great option when school is out.
Very bad center. Front desk lady is extremely rude and wouldn’t take our child at drop off because they are incompetent and can’t interpret a doctor’s note correctly. There were kids crying everywhere and didn’t seem like any caregiver insight. When we asked about placing our child in same classroom as their friend, the lady very rudely rejected it with no reason other than to be mean. This place is trash. Do not send your kids here!!
We took our daughter to this backup care center when her full-time daycare was closed for Spring Break. We didn't know what to expect (few reviews on Google), but we had a wonderful experience! The teacher's and staff were warm and communicative. Our daughter had a great day, and we felt comfortable all day that she was in great hands!
For booking backup care, I would not recommend selecting Bright Horizons at Rockefeller (600 5th ave). I had a better experience with Bright Horizons Hudson Yards. This location made it difficult to book backup care due to redundant allergy documentation needed. In the end, 1-2 hours was spent to provide documentation (as I need to submit paperwork to my doctor and follow-up multiple times with the doctor office). In the end, I couldn't get backup care and had to find an alternate solution. Save your time/stress and skip this location.
My son is in his first of 3 weeks of backup day care at the Rockefeller Center location. After 3 days we're really happy with this center. The staff are super friendly and care for our son well. It seems like there are plenty of activities that they do with him. At the end of the day we get a report card with notes on naps, feedings and diapers + photos and descriptions of the activities. This week it didn't seem particularly busy so he's gotten a lot of individual attention which is more than he'll get once he's at his regular daycare in a few weeks. If you work in midtown the location is also great - even the concierge in the building are friendly and helpful. If you weren't sure about backup daycare, I'd recommend!
