While our son attended TCDS, he received nurturing, high-quality care. I can't say enough good things about their 1s Room -- run by Ms. Keke (also the school's Assistant Director) and Mr. Aaron. Our son got to play and explore and create art and dance to his heart's content. He was ALWAYS happy at pick up. And, the amount of outside time he got was incredible. The 1s Room had a protected play area with a play structure, play houses, cars, and a sand box. He would also want me to stay to play with him at pick up, and that's how I had a chance to get to know Mr. Aaron and Ms. Keke so well. They are both kind, loving, generous adults -- anyone would be lucky to have their child cared for by them. When our son transitioned into the 2s Room, he had a hard time. The school's Director (Ms. Jill), along with Ms. Keke and Mr. Aaron, did everything that they could to smooth out his transition to his new teacher. They communicated with us at drop off and pick up and helped us support him from home. Tons of enriching activities, water play (on hop days), and outside time instilled our son with confidence and great social skills. We are grateful for his time at TCDS.
I can give a pretty unique review about this school... because I went here as a kid... about 30 years ago. Good times. I learned how to read a clock here, and, due to the proximity to cows on the hill near the outdoor play area, I learned how to make an accurate cow "mooo" sound. I believe they had a little chicken coop here, too. Also, they had this tiny little "weeping willow" type tree (or maybe it was some other kind of tree, but the branches and leaves fell to the ground, and we used to climb in and it was a fun hiding spot) and I got my first kiss there. Older woman; she was in Kindergarten, I was in pre-school. Yes, I stuck my head in a toilet there once, and yes, it was after another kid had... used it. (#1, not #2.) But it was on a dare! What was I supposed to do!?!? The staff handled it with the utmost grace and elegance. (My parents still have the letter they sent home with me.) And then there was the time we got to break a piñata. I had somehow just learned what amnesia was earlier that day, I believe, and as I was picking up the spoils of the piñata, I found a tiny plastic toy tiger, and I thought to myself, "This is a 'tiger'. If I ever hit my head and I think I might have amnesia, the test will be, 'Can I remember that this animal is called a 'tiger'?'" To this day, I have always passed THAT test. Anyway, like I said: good times. I give this joint 5 stars.
