What Parents Say
Chicago Heights Nazarene Nursery School has highly polarized reviews. Positive reviews praise the Christian education, staff communication, academic progress, and 50+ year history. Negative reviews cite unqualified staff, safety concerns, poor management under new pastoral leadership, inadequate teacher-to-child ratios, and lack of parental communication.
I've had all my 3 boys attend the nursery for day and after school program. Excellent Christian education, too bad they only go up to kindergarten but before and after school programs go up to 12 years old which is fabulous. Enjoyed the Christmas program this year, Spanish hermitage month celebration and weekly chapel.
Both my kids love it here. My son is 2 and knows his shapes and colors and he's starting to recognize his numbers and letters. They're doing great helping me potty train him. My daughter absolutely loves Ms Rosa. She runs to her every morning and is so happy when I pick her up. They have fun family events and the new pastor is very nice.
The new pastors have no sense of how the daycare industry works. They have no sense of ratio, they have unqualified teachers in lead teacher positions, and as a result there’s a mix of age group due to the lack of qualified teachers. Parent communication is also lacking from leadership and parents a lot of the time are kept out of the loop with their own children’s information. The pastors have a complete disregard for safety regulations, they prioritize putting on a show over safe environments for the children to play in. -5 stars Nazarene! This is not a place that values your children’s well being.
It brings me great sadness that this place has turned into what it has. I see no teachers anymore just people that I know are not legally qualified to be alone with children. All the teachers that I have known for years have left. This place use to teacher about love, kindness and equality. Now it is cold and sad! Directors just gone and no answers given! Anytime I seek answers the “teachers” act scared and just reply the Pastors. It’s already a scary world you want somewhere safe to send your children and this “church” is not the place to send them. If I could no stars this place I would.
My son attends here he has a hard time with transition. He recently moved up a class and his new teacher has been nothing but helpful. She communicates with my wife and I throughout the day. They are trying to become eco-friendly so everything is reported through an app. Since becoming apart of this school family my son has learned so much! Hoping god finds a way to add higher grades to this establishment my family never wants to leave
