What Parents Say
Note: The reviews provided are for Chemeketa Community College, not the Child Development Center/ECE Lab daycare. Reviews praise affordable education, helpful staff, strong support services including food and clothing pantries, and quality instruction. Some concerns exist about reduced class availability post-COVID.
Chemeketa Community College is a solid option if you’re looking for affordable education, flexibility, and strong support services. It’s ideal for students who are working part-time or full-time, parents returning to school, or those looking to start their college journey before transferring to a four-year institution. The community aspect is a bit quieter than at a traditional university, but the quality of education and the resources available make up for it.
By far the absolute worst community college in Oregon, I've been going here for basically 3 years trying to get my AAOT degree only to be met with a unrealistic work load, uncooperative staff, constant goose chases. EVERYTHING RELYS ON YOUR GPA AND "ACADEMIC STANDING" EVEN FOR THEIR EMERGENCY FUNDING!! The financial aid officers are by far the nosiest, rudest people I have ever dealt with, the VA rep is not really helpful whatsoever (basically just tells you to call the VA office itself instead of answering your questions about your education), the accessibility office is a joke if you have a chronic illness or a disability that affects your attendance/way to learn or anything in between. They will just give you the most unhelpful accommodations that a person with common sense would already be doing, professors PILE on workloads acting like it's the only class you have when you're taking 3+ just to get your requirements, they have limited food options, 90% is just premade junk or junk out of a vending machine and the AAOT requirements are RIDICULOUS, they NEED to be major forward towards what YOU are there to accomplish. As a psychology major and a veteran student and someone who has the assistant Dean's number who is contacted CONTINUOUSLY about the actions at chemeketa, I can safely say that chemeketa is on my no-no list. Should've went to linn Benton.
My daughter has done two and a half years at this "school" and it has been a constant battle. The advisors job is to help direct you into what you want, what classes to take and how to get there. In this case at this "school" it's a disaster of "go on line to the school website and it will tell you" what in the hell is that! She and I both feel that a lot of her vet benefits have gone to waste here. Taking classes she was directed to and still not being applicable to her degree!! The communication is a mess. The guidance and help for is a disaster. The campus is nice for a small, community "collage" and security does a nice job. That's all I have to say about this mess. We have moved schools and even they are in aww of the misdirection and waist of her benefits..
Buildings nice. Instructors great. Broken elevator in main student building 2 not hospitable to disabled. No food court or cafeteria, only junk food machines and snack shack on health building with very limited food choices ( cold premade sandwiches, chips and coffee and NA beverages. Not enough disabled parking in health building:-( cannot register for needed courses (bio112) full two semesters in a row. That’s at least a year setback for future nurses trying to get pre-requisites MAJOR PROBLEM!
Had Midterm Math test today 2/06/26 crossing fingers that it went good.
