The Newtown YMCA is a great facility to join Its smaller than other YMCA gyms and everyone is very friendly. It's very clean and the instructors are great. I teach at this location from time to time and it's always an awesome crew of participants. They have locker rooms and every piece of equipment you would need for the best workout. It's also perfect for seniors.

2019 update - after enrolling my kids in swim programs and private, it is disheartening that focus on the swim programs are deteriorating. Multiple swim directors have been the norm. They now allow private lessons to take place along with the programs. The pool is already small. All they care about is making money and not the quality of the instruction. Having a constant and reliable swim teacher is definitely helping the kids who rely on a specific routine. They are active participants and listen well. The price is great too! This is so much better than the NAC because we paid a lot and teachers are constantly changing which makes it hard for the kids to adjust to the teaching styles. Am definitely recommending YMCA to my friends.

Our sons have memberships to the Y for their swimming lessons. Miss Cat is a wonderful instructor and she's the associate swim director. It definitely helps when there is a consistent instructor and someone who is an adult. These are the sole reasons why we joined the Y instead of NAC, whose swim instructors consists of high school students and their directors are constantly changing.

Limited equipment and a small gym. A tiny indoor swimming pool, cycling room and a open floor room for classes. Very friendly staff and not heavily crowded. Good schedule for different types of full body workouts and classes.
