When we were choosing a preschool for our 3-year-old son, we toured many places in the area. We decided on Challenger because their communication was prompt, efficient, and transparent—something that is especially important to us as two working parents. And we are very happy with our decision! The teachers and staff are warm and friendly. Our son’s teacher, Ms. Sunitha, is always patient, smiling, and great with the children. The director and staff are also consistently supportive and willing to help. Honestly, at first, we weren’t too focused on a preschool’s curriculum, but we quickly saw how Challenger makes learning fun for the kids. Our son comes home every day humming new songs, proudly showing us his artwork (messy, which reassures us it’s truly his), and telling us about the numbers or letters he learned that day—then practicing them on his own (always funny to watch). We never felt the need to push him, yet it’s been amazing to see how genuinely happy a toddler can be about learning and how much confidence he has gained through the process. Now, he feels a real sense of ownership in his classroom and happily rushes us to drop him off each morning, very much in a “this is my place” way. We believe this comes from a well-structured program, a welcoming environment, and strong organization. If you’re looking for a preschool, we recommend checking out Challenger. It’s been wonderful to see how much more potential young children have than we often realize.

We’ve had a wonderful experience during our first two weeks at this preschool. We were very nervous about starting full-day preschool for our 3.5-year-old since she had never done full days before. She is very attached to us and a bit slow to warm up, and she had only attended intermittent half-day school due to traveling to India to spend time with her grandparents. Ms. Denise, the director, gave us a lovely school tour and took the time to thoughtfully address all our concerns, both in person and over email. She is truly wonderful. We were hoping to find a school that feels loving and nurturing while also encouraging meaningful learning, and this school has been a perfect fit so far. Despite her initial hesitation, our daughter has grown to absolutely love her school and asks to go every day. Her teachers, Ms. Sunitha and Ms. Shilpi, are incredibly kind, patient, and attentive. They are so engaged with the children that our daughter talks endlessly about her teachers and often pretends to be them with her soft toys at home. She is always cheerful at pickup and excited to share her day during the car ride home. It’s so wonderful to hear her singing the Challenger School song and many other songs she learns at school. On her very first day, she told me, “Ms. Sunitha said A has two sounds! You forgot to teach me the other sound!” — which made me smile. I couldn’t believe we were already talking about long vowels on her very first day. It’s clear she’s enjoying herself and absorbing so much in such a fun way. Drop-offs are still a little emotional at times, but they only last a few seconds before she happily joins her classmates. Everyone in the front office is very supportive, too. We would highly recommend this preschool to any parents looking for a caring, nurturing, and enriching environment for their child.

As a student who has attended challenger from preschool to 7th grade, I can safely say that challenger is one of the best elementary schools you can go it. Its decent in middle school but elementary is where it really shines. First off, all concepts learned at challenger are reviews over and over again to make sure the student has an extremely solid understanding of the concepts. For example, I was able to skip from algebra 1 to precalculus without any problems. Furthermore, challenger is one of the best schools you can go to if you want to excel in english. Having four individual subjects for english rather than one subject which barely covers any significant topics. The teachers at challenger, while some rather strict, are great at making sure a student receives the proper explanations and key concepts needed. Some students like Ms. Beckford ARE AMAZING AT TEACHING AND ARE ALSO VERY NICE AND WELCOMING. Furthermore, challenger has a great system that has a student council fundraise and manage school events such as dances. Not only does this allow students to have more fun, but it is also a great way to show leadership (for school applications) and reduce the cost of tuition. Challenger also has school competitions such as science fairs, math competitions, and writing competitions, allowing students to easily find things to put on their school applications rather than having to search for them outside of school which can be slow and ineffective. Overall, I would say challenger is one of the best elementary schools and a solid middle school in the bay area. Personally, I would say the most important part of it is that the teachers there actually care about how the students are doing rather than their salary.

We joined this campus in 2021, and I noticed that the negative reviews were from several years ago. The school changed its principal a few years back, and I am currently very satisfied with its operation. The school's director is very responsible, and the teachers are all very nice and have a strong sense of responsibility in guiding my child. The environment is clean, the campus is spacious, and academically, it consistently maintains corporate uniform standards, which I appreciate. My child is slow to warm up, and every day when I pick her up after school, she wants to play a bit more and doesn't want to leave. For me, that's enough. Overall, I am very happy with this campus. Updated 2025 Review: We are still extremely happy with this campus! Our daughter is now a 4th grader, and the school continues to impress us with its organization and commitment to excellence. Every teacher we’ve had so far has been amazing—supportive, caring, and highly professional. The management team runs the school very well, and the front office staff is the best—super responsive and always helpful. What we love most is their strict adherence to academic standards, which has helped our child improve tremendously. They truly care about the students; even when my child had a special medical issue, the staff took it seriously and were flexible in accommodating our needs. Because of this wonderful experience, we’ve decided to enroll our 3-year-old here as well, so he can start early. Highly recommend this campus to any family looking for a structured, caring, and academically strong environment!

Our family toured Challenger School-Sunnyvale in February with our daughter entering Kindergarten. The headmaster gave us a tour and, at the time, suggested that we schedule an assessment for our daughter. She told us about the summer program and how it would benefit our daughter's development. She said we could put a deposit down for the school year and the assessment and that all was refundable except for the assessment fee. The school took our down payment for the school year before the assessment and acceptance letter to the school. They were eager to persuade us to write the check. We attended the summer program where our daughter was bit by other students more than once. The teacher communicated the first incident without any resolution to the problem. The next day my daughter was bit again; this time, the office admin called to tell me. There was no written incident report for either scenario, which was odd. At the end of the program, we learned from the teaching staff that the leadership staff reprimanded the teacher for telling us our daughter was bitten. At that point, we decided we didn't want to return to Challenger School. We didn't like how they handled our daughter getting assaulted. We kindly asked for our deposit, and they refused to return it. I even asked the admin staff in the office before my request if the deposit was refundable if we changed our minds for the school year, and they reaffirmed what we were told during the tour, that it was. This staff is dishonest and does not handle behavioral issues responsibly. They quickly take your money without taking any responsibility for their lack of leadership. Keep your child away from here.
