I went to CVMC in Nephi, Utah when my conditions worsened only to have the ER staff not take what I was saying seriously. They triggered my suicidal ideation! Sunday February 22, 2026 the ER staff in Nephi treated me like I was the problem. I had an allergic reaction, and was in the CVMC ER 2 days in a row. Saturday the staff and doctor were professional but Sunday was different right from the start. After I took the steroid they gave me I couldn't stop coughing, I had trouble sleeping, and I had wheezing in my chest. I asked for an Albuterol inhaler, as I had asthma as a child and my chest felt similar to that, not able to breath. When I gave the receptionist my military ID to check in, instead of checking me in they sent out "McKade" he tried to talk to me into not checking myself in, he told me bad information that he thought I could just drive myself to Walmart and get an Albuterol inhaler without a prescription, he also said that they would have to charge me and maybe I didn't want the hassle of checking in again, I told him "but I'm a disabled military veteran, it's covered by the VA." McKade also said maybe it was viral not a reaction to the steroids. Then he said maybe just take 1/2 a dose on the steroids. So I got checked in and they take me back. But the way they chose to treat me, triggered anxiety and a panic attack when I went to the restroom later on. Karissa took my vitals, Morgan came in and asked me what I wanted them to do, she apologized for the blood pressure cuff which kept malfunctioning and filling and deflating taking my vitals to close together. And I told her "I can't breath." I showed her that when I breath out that I'm wheezing and I told her my chest is tight since I started to take the steroids they gave me yesterday. She said that the oxygen saturation looks good on the machine that they have me hooked up to. They also condescendingly asked me what I was in for last week, and I told them. Someone else came in treating me like I was making everything up, she had me stick out my tongue and say aw, and she listened to my chest and breathing with a stethoscope. Doctor Sanderson listened to me, he said that they were mistaken at the VA that an EPI PEN is only for anaphylaxis not just a reaction to make the histamine response subside in your body like the Triage Nurse at the VA ER in SLC told me. Doctor Sanderson also listened to my chest with his stethoscope. I also asked him for an inhaler but one was not provided to me. Doctor Sanderson told me to take Benadryl. Said they could provide me with 1 but took 40 minutes to do so. After giving me 1 they left me alone for 30 minutes, I had to ask if it was okay to use the bathroom. They were all just sitting around and talking, and Sanderson yelled over to me, "Are you feeling good?" When I was on my way to the bathroom. Where I had a panic attack. After I did some deep breathing in the restroom I felt trapped I forced myself to leave the bathroom and go back to the room they had me in. Someone came in immediately and said that they better get me checked out. But when she tried to run my vitals since my anxiety was so high, I watched as the number on the left hit 150 and I told her it was because they had triggered my anxiety, so I didn't think it was going to go back down. Then I watched as she hit clear, to make the alarm stop after the machine hit 150/ didn't see the other number and she said I was free to go! They told me everything looks good. I asked them, why is my chest still tight? Why am I wheezing? They didn't have an answer for that. Even Dr. Sanderson suggested to me that I could probably just go to Walmart and get Albuterol, he told me I don't need a prescription for it, at least he didn't think I needed one. I drove to the SLC VA ER after leaving CVMC - albuterol is prescription only, which they gave to me. They also said there was a spot they were concerned about on my chest X-ray! The VA was appalled with how CVMC treated me.
Had total hip replacement. Dr. Karrasch and NP Christopher Tatton performed the procedure. This is my 11th surgery. I had never been to them in the past. Choosing a surgical team can be overwhelming, I’d have to say they are the best team I’ve encountered. Professional and knowledgeable, paired with great bed side manner and very personable. Excellent post surgery care. The nurses, techs, therapists and admin all get five stars. They truly care about your well being and it shows. Hopefully this was my last surgery. But they WILL be the folks to slice me up if there’s a next time. Great experience!
Overall it was a good experience. I went in for a same day surgery. The hospital was supposed to to call if the Doctor was backed up but they did not. Waited an extra 2 1/2 before going to the OR. Secondly, they were supposed to call my family while in recovery so the Doctor could talk to them. No phone call! So, we don’t know what happened completely in surgery. I just wish they would have been better about the phone calls.
Very nice people, attendants, medical assistants, nurses and doctors. I just moved to fountain green and started to attend doctors at CMVC, I haven’t seen no difference from the hospitals and doctors from Salt Lake City. Keep up with your work, thank you!
My heartfelt thanks to all the staff that attended to me so expeditiously. It was a bit of a scary morning for us, but you all were just wonderful and assuring. The professionalism was present most abundantly.
