What Parents Say
Carrie's Small Scholars has highly polarized reviews. Positive reviews praise the friendly staff, safe environment, good facilities, and quality care. However, negative reviews consistently cite inadequate supervision, unsanitary conditions, dark rooms, lack of engaging activities, and children experiencing distress.
I can't say enough nice things about Carrie's Small Scholars; they are a great Day Care Center with a really friendly and experienced staff. As I mother it's very nice to leave my kids knowing that they are safe and in good hands. In rare instances when I've needed to talk to them about a concern they have been very open to the feedback, apologetic, and concerned. Mothers you've got to check this place out, if your kids are anything like mine then they'll love the place and that means less heartache for you.
We really like Carrie and her staff at Carrie's Small Scholars Day Care Center. We used to have a neighbor watch our children because it was convenient but they like Carrie's better because they have a really nice facility with lots of toys and playground equipment. My kids are social and there's other nice kids there for them to play with and become friends with. They give our kids lunch and snacks and so I know that they're eating and being take care of while I'm at school. Having them there was been a really good experience and they actually enjoy going and say they love their teachers.
My daughter hated this daycare. She would have panic attacks and would cry and cling to me every time I tried dropping her off. She has never had this problem with any other daycare she has gone to. She still freaks out if we drive by it screaming that she doesn't want, "daycares house." There were always kids running around everywhere with no supervision no doors were locked and kid were everywhere. Not to mention my kids were always filthy dirty and starving when I picked them up.
It's ironic this daycare's name is associated with learning because I strongly doubt any learning occurs here. My son went to this daycare about three times a week for just under a month. Similar to another review my son would start to panic at the mere mention of daycare, a reaction that has not occurred before or since with any other care provider. Whenever my wife or I showed up to pick our son up, the place was a mad house with kids running around, unsupervised. Many of the children sat isolated in dark, empty rooms devoid of decorations, toys, or anything at all. Also the place smelled like dirty daipers but I suppose you can't always avoid that in that sort of place. We removed him from this environment as soon as we could.
We did not have any of our kids at this daycare, however, we lived next door and from our second level apartment could see every day what was happening on the playground. The people that work there did nothing but stand in the shade, talk/text on their cell phones, or just talk to each other, while kids did all sorts of dangerous things, such as hitting and punching each other, picking up slides and dropping them on other kids and other misuses of playground equipment. There were times when kids needed attention and the adults were not paying attention. I am sure that there are good things about this daycare, but I would never send my child to a daycare where someone's cell phone is more important than my child. I would not recommend this daycare unless changes are made in the staff.
