What Parents Say
Parents praise the Carl H. Lindner Family YMCA for its excellent swimming facilities, engaging programs, and friendly, dedicated staff. The facility is described as a welcoming community space with strong communication and interactive learning activities. Some note the facilities are outdated compared to newer locations, though they appreciate the amenities and strong sense of community.
Coming from a member of the central parkway YMCA which is newly renovated, this one is outdated. The showers in the locker room are questionable and I will not use them, there is no machine to dry your swimwear either or hair dryers or towels provided. The one thing here that I love is the pool. It is child friendly with a water park area and a slide. There is an endless lap pool and 3 swim lanes. It's pretty big and I love it. I only come here for the pool as my main one does not have a child friendly area. The water aerobics class is also great and fun. I would say if nothing else, go for the pool. UPDATE 2019 I still feel the place is outdated but this ymca has a very great community feel and great workers. They have lots of events with activities for kids and clearly care about their community often times having extra food for them or just items they may need.
I only use the pool, which is awesome, and the locker room, which is okay. The pool has all kinds of great features like a huge slide, place where you can swim against the current, and a great selection of pool toys, as well as a lap area. The locker room is pretty bare bones but clean and the shower gel provided has this great nostalgic scent...
The facility is nice. I swim at this pool. Have been since 2007. The hours for swimming are not what is posted on the website page. Lately, I have gotten there in the morning around 7 and they weren't open. Mildly annoying. I like swimming here because there are not a lot of others using the pool. But if there aren't people then paying a guard to do nothing makes no sense.
Here for my daughter's softball game. Walked inside to ask to use the restroom, and before I could even open my mouth to speak the girl at the desk looks at me and says "we don't have no bathrooms." She was so rude and nasty. Might want to consider someone more professional to be at your front desk.
Locker rooms smell terrible and are dirty, need renovation. Twice I have tried to go to the pool during pool hours and it was closed because they had no lifeguards. Pool water has bad odor and leaves it on you.
