I would like to first say that my review has nothing to do with the elementary school itself, all the staff that I met there was wonderful, my issue stemmed from the homeschool program for grades 3-8 Mrs. Henslee. Mrs. Henslee has tenure, and no matter what complaints are formed against her the school will continue to make up excuses for her and allow her horrible behavior to continue. Mrs. Hensley is fine with the kids that she decides she likes, but for the kids that have ADHD or who don't focus as well she is absolutely awful to them! She was not only rude and unfair to my son but she would purposely and continuously make him feel left out and put down. She would punish him by taking away recess(for a child who struggles to stay still) because as she said, he wasn't up to grade level and needed to work more, she would remind him daily that he wasn't good enough. Her treatment of him really affected his self-esteem. It got to the point where every day that I picked him up he would tell me a story about how she mistreated him. Eventually we gave up on obtaining any resolution, as the schools vice principal was absolutely no help at all, and switched to a different school. Within six months my son was exceeding grade level and his self-esteem was repaired! Other parents were afraid to speak out because they didn't want their kids to have to pay the consequences of her getting angry. I had to give up. Charter homeschool is amazing, if you want to homeschool your children bring them there!!!!
