Wow what a great little church just a few blocks from the main area here in what's called the Crystal City area of Arlington VA. I'm staying about a mile way at the Crown Plaza and was pleasantly surprised finding such a wonderful little Methodist service within walking distance from my hotel. The pastor was very informative with his message but made it entertaining so no one fell asleep during the upbeat/uplifting service. The people attending were all friendly even with a stranger walking in off of the street, albeit a little sweaty from the mile hike. The Greeter, I think Mr. Walt? He was especially friendly and after the service made a special effort to find me and make me feel even more welcome. They invited all to refreshments after service at 12:15pm. I just had some water and coffee but it looked like all the folks were enjoying the hodgepodge of items brought in from members if the church. They have 2 services 8:30am & 11am, being from Texas I made the 11am service as my system was still on "Texas Time". They also have have Bible Study at 9:45am on Sundays with classes for both Adults and Children. The church itself was probably built 100+ years ago with additions along the way. It's a small congregation but when your a long way from home it's a blessing to have a place to worship and not feel uncomfortable. They are at 23rd and South Grant Street. Enjoy & God Bless!
Beautiful church. Very welcoming and great service.
My wife and I started going here in January. This church has an amazing congregation that is instantly welcoming. The pastor, Matthew, is passionate about teaching from the Bible, and the messages are always biblically centered. Frankly, he makes church fun. Also, they have a great children's ministry so that parents can focus on the sermon. The 830 service is a little more low key (hey, its early). The 1100 service is a little more "churchy" with a formal choir singing at the service. Both are great services, and each service has a small fellowship time afterwards.
Pastor Matthew is a gifted speaker. He brings the message, along with a good dose of humor, in a way that you do not want to miss. People are friendly and the coffee great.
Wonderful church and community. I am not Christian but this church has provided a warm welcome to several Scouting groups.
