Watts Towers Arts Center is a vibrant hub for art and culture. The towering sculptures outside immediately catch your eye, and the galleries inside showcase local artists and community projects. It feels welcoming and full of creativity, making it a great place to explore, learn, and get inspired. A must-visit for anyone interested in art, history, or community spirit.
The Day of the Drum Festival was amazing. They had some great performers. However, I spent the majority of my time where the locals played drums, cowbell, and sticks. It reminded me of when I used to watch my dad play the drums at Will Roger's Park when I was young.
I wanted to stay for the tour, but unfortunately didn't have enough time. The towers at first glance weren't all that, but once you get up close and read the plaques and learn, you can see the intricate design and the years of dedication it took to make this beautiful mosaic-like piece of art. The attention to detail and the strength of the actual structure itself is so impressive. Don't forget to go around the whole thing where you'll also read along the ground, plaques that tell the history of Watts until present day.
I've seen these on TV and movies for years and didn't really know anything about them. We took the tour, learned the history, and I sincerely appreciate the art and the effort in what was created here. I would recommend if you like art of any kind.
A fascinating relic of early 20th century Los Angeles history, this one man made monument stands after 100 years despite all odds
