I am elated with the care our kids receive at BLAB. Every morning, both my kiddos are happy to attend "school" and excitedly run out the door. Our son is now 4 years old, but started there when he was about 10 weeks old. At this time, he was actually being fed via a g-tube due to complications at birth. I asked the director, Shelly, if they would be able to take on that medical need. She responded with "Well that's how he eats, isn't it? So of course we will be able to do that." Sure enough, I trained the teachers in the g-tube feeding and they did great with it. Our daughter has been going there since about 8 weeks old and continues to gain her independence (as I watched my son do as well) through the daycare's teaching techniques. Not only do the teachers help my kids to continually grow, but they are so helpful to me, a first time parent, when I feel like I have no idea what I am doing. I consider the teachers there family as I have become close with all of them and even have one teacher who feels like a grandma to my kiddos as she babysits and helps us out so much. I am very grateful to have found such a wonderful center in our small town of Sauk.
We did not have a good experience at Leaps and Bounds. Our two-year-old was very quickly moved from the Orange Room to the Red Room after our first three months. The Orange room teachers were lovely. Some of the Red room teachers were inconsiderate, dismissive, and condescending. We found our two-year-old left alone and crying on the potty several times during pick up. I overheard the teachers in the Red room being quite mean to the kids. They yelled at little boys and girls for “lurking”, taking too long on the potty or not being fast enough to put on their own shoes. The room generally seemed poorly managed with too many kids and not enough staff. Our two year old was going through some attachment issues after winter break. One of the teachers told us loudly and publicly that we should have her seen by a child psychologist. Our child was fine the following week. We were thankfully able to get out of leaps and bounds and find other care. It is unfortunate a day care can operate at this level and still have a waiting list.
Super wonderful teachers that love out children and have helped turn them into great kids.
