My 3 years old son went to this school and we had worst experience ever. The teachers and directors have zero patience with my son. Once he cry and over acting they just called me and tell me my son has to leave the school. I understand the kid might have problems. But first, the teachers should be trained and certified how to handle those situations. How can we trust this place when their only solution is calling me and take my son home. Second, even my son has problems and needs some special treatment or this school is not experienced to handle kids like my son, we don’t get any consultation or guidance what to do next. Only answer is Hey, you gonna take your son back. The teachers didn’t even talk to us what happened, what we should do. The teacher just pull my kid to the side and tell us we and my kid can’t stay and we gonna to leave. We only went to this school for two days, and I decided we going to drop it. It’s shame to have those people as early education teachers in our town. I even doubt their certification to run this business. If your kid is not an “angle” kid, don’t go this place. They only want to handle the easy kids and collect easy money from us and town.

I am not even want to put any stars for this location. This school has completely failed my child, both academically and ethically. Rather than supporting him, they were quick to label him "unruly" and"problematic" without taking the time to understand his personality or needs. Even worse, it became painfully clear that their treatment was rooted in racial bias — my son, who is Asian, was held to a different standard than his peers, frequently singled out and disciplined for behavior that was overlooked in others. Instead of creating an inclusive environment, the staff perpetuated harmful stereotypes and seemed more interested in blaming than helping. No child should be made to feel like an outsider in a place meant to foster growth and learning. Shame on this school for its prejudice and lack of accountability.Discriminate on colored kids and super shame on this school and teachers who working here.

It’s been almost 3 years since my son was at this school for their day program. He received services from the state so they called him a problem child. Also a worker there with a grudge towards me from years prior that had nothing to do with her told the owner and the attitude there changed drastically. They complained more about my son and the owner become extremely cold. I pulled him out and put him into another school where he thrived. Buttherhill doesn’t care about children with special needs. They are problem children. He did so much better at a different program and was much happier. He now graduated UPK and is going into kindergarten with no services needed. It’s all about the environment and people willing to take the time and work with a child with special needs. I 100% recommend Victorias castle or Windsor Academy(especially for UPK). Because of them, my son thrived and isn’t considered a “problem child”.

Both of my children attended Butterhill for pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten in 2014. The staff was wonderful and my kids learned valuable life skills. They’re now in High School and excelling.

Impersonal. Cold. Uncommunicative. Rigid. Frustrating. Imagine this: A two year old gets daily written reports during the summer and everything is going smoothly without incident. In Autumn when they are moved to a new room, the reports stop, and the staff never tell the parents that the child is not napping, or is ignoring the class activities, even when the parents are asking "how is it going?" everyday at pickup. Attempts by the parents to join the daycare-provided app go unfulfilled despite multiple registration attempts and questioning of the staff. The parents are routinely left wanting more daily information. So one Monday (just two weeks into the new Autumn semester and new room) you get a note in your child's bag to call and make an office conference appointment. Though you just saw the owner face to face 15 minutes earlier when you picked up your child, they made no mention of this note, or of any reason to write the note. On the phone when you ask what the meeting might be about, they say you will discuss it on Thursday, three days later, when the meeting is scheduled. Knowing your child is very active and independent, but without having received a single verbal or written warning about any problems in the daycare, you expect there is some concern with the child's behavior, but you never expected the school to tell you right then and there the child cannot come back. "They don't fit into our structured system," we are told. "The child is two years old and you've never told us there were any concerns that we could have helped work through," we tell them. No negotiation, the child has to leave. Extra effort to help the child fit in is beyond their means. So there is no warning, despite seeing the staff and owner at every drop off and pickup. There was no warning when called on the phone. So three days are wasted that could have been spent looking for a new school when the staff could have told us, either in person or via the call placed to them, that they already pre-determined the child had to leave. A real disregard for our child's and family's needs (child care remains hard to access, as any parent will know).... but it is "Out of sight, Out of mind" with these folks. Learning later from other parents in town that the owner is just a businessperson that purchased the business for a means of living, instead of someone with a mission to care for children and guide them, sheds a lot of light on the situation. Cornwall and the surrounding towns are full of parents in need of child care. Even before Covid, resources were strained, and ever since, not as many institutions are available as before as some closed and never reopened. Choices are limited and it's a market in favor of the daycares. If you want a creative and constructive environment for your child, or if you want your child that is independently-minded to have a healthy place to spend the day, Butterhill is absolutely not it.
