What Parents Say
Feedback is mixed, with one parent sharing a positive personal experience regarding helpful staff during a past application process, while others express strong disapproval of specific program activities. Critics argue that including mock shootings in forensics lessons is inappropriate and distressing for children, with one reviewer also describing the program as aggressively uncooperative and overpriced.
I am beyond disgusted at both the Burlington school district and Burlington Police Department’s decision to subject children to a mock shooting as part of a forensics lesson. How did this get approved by anyone? It’s simply insane. Children across America are well aware of the fact that just going to school could mean a death sentence for them. I am a former pre-K teacher who taught in South Burlington and will never forget the look on my 2 and 3-year-old students’ faces when we had to do lockdown drills. To voluntarily subject children to a mock shooting in the name of teaching “witness fallibility” is egregious and unforgivable. I will never forget this, and neither will those students. Embarrassing.
This was my first time back in over 30 years! Back then, I went there because I applied to be a substitute teacher. Had to go to each school district to apply via paper application. PCs existed and the internet was fledgling. Good times! Was hired, by the way. Do I have great stories!! Shout out to Denise! She was about to head out the door, saw me and helped me. Really appreciate it!
Failed to perform as expected. Has a strong tendency to attack colleagues unprovoked. Very expensive, for the cost I could have done the job myself. 0/10, would not recommend.
