What Parents Say
Building Blocks Academy (also referred to as Lexington Daycare Inc. in reviews) has highly polarized parent feedback. While some parents praise the caring teachers, positive director, and safe environment, multiple parents report serious concerns including behavioral changes in children, inadequate supervision, inappropriate incident handling, unprofessional staff conduct, and poor parent communication.
My daughter attended LDC for a month and a half before pulling her regardless of the fact we had paid for two additional weeks. My daughter screamed and cried every day when dropping her off and this should have been the only proof I needed to decide to pull her. Unfortunately it took my daughter’s character to change from a sweet and kind child to a stressed, reactive and defensive child. Her behavior became so bad she was being removed from her classroom to sit in the front office. She came home with black eyes, small unexplained bruises, numerous incident reports in the short time she was there. The final straw was picking her up and being asked how I would like an incident report to be written up, where my daughter had “slid off the toilet” even with two adults sitting on either side of her, hitting her head on the tile floor causing her to have a large goose egg. My daughter has been attending another local daycare for 6 months now, where her behavior has, thankfully, resorted back to her loving, kind, sweet self. She loves going to “school” each day, loves her teachers, and in 6 months has only had once incident report. Unfortunately I learned the hard lesson of not trusting my instinct when my daughters entire personality changed because of Lexington Daycares negligence and malpractice. Do not send your children here.
We have been at this facility for a few months now. We really love the teachers in the 1 year old room and our daughter does too. The new director has had a positive influence and is always looking for ways to make it even better. Our children have been at a couple daycares at this point and the people at Lexington Daycare Inc. put in the time and effort to know and care about our kids.
Our daughter loves Lexington Day care! The teachers keep us up to date and are informative. I feel she is safe when I leave for work. And there is always something fun for each Holiday.
I have a grandchild here and not for long. This is what I thought was a program to help parents with childcare. This place will hinder, you rather than being a benefit. Constantly having issues and dealing with rude woman who works the door. I would definitely make this place a last resort and avoid at all cost. They want your $, but not your child. The parents are the ones who pay their wages. You would think they would be more courteous rather than the unprofessionalism that they display daily. I would give no stars as a review.
Likes to create issues for you at your day job with incompetence. Specifically, having you leave work because your kid has yogurt in her hair and they want to call it lice. It didn't seem to clue them in that none of the other kids had it when they checked them. That's fine and dandy, was letting that go, except they want to gripe when we advise them the $25 charge to get her medically declared lice free (which they required for her to return, and we work of course, so needed her to return) would be taken out of the daycare pay the following week. This, of course, is after the fact that anyone there constantly has a holier-than-thou attitude and actively tries to pit a child's two parents against each other by "tattling" on one or the other. I struggle to come up with a more appropriate term than "tattling" because it really is nothing but an extension of their supercilious BS and general nosiness.
