What Parents Say
Brightside Academy receives mostly positive reviews, with parents praising the warm, engaged staff and caring environment, particularly highlighting teachers like Ms. Marleena and Ms. Juanita. However, a small number of negative reviews allege staffing attitude issues and concerns about age-appropriate practices. The facility offers extended hours, secure premises, and includes meals and diapers.
Sure there's "nicer places" but our daughter was super happy when she went (ages 12 months to 3 years) and she has nothing but positive memories. She has grown into a well adjusted friendly and (importantly) a good well founded person. Bright side isn't really responsible for that, but they definitely helped support her on her early learning and socializing adventures. A definite recommendation from our family. Friendly people. Years later we're still glad she went.
We had an excellent experience with this Brightside location. Our child attended from age 3 months through 18 months, and after a brief adjustment period, was always happy to be dropped off in the morning. The morning/early afternoon babies teacher for most of our time there was Miss Marleena (who is now in one of the older toddler classrooms there). I cannot say enough positive things about Miss Marleena. She is easily in the top 5 sweetest people I’ve ever met, and our child adored her. Miss Marleena greets each child with delighted enthusiasm when they arrive and exudes positive energy and love. It was obvious how much joy she takes in the kids and in life in general. Most of my interactions were with Miss Marleena, but all of the other teachers I met were also great, and our child seemed positive about them, too. The director, Miss D (Dielca Robinson) is also very warm, professional, and trustworthy, as is the assistant director Miss Jennie. Our daughter enjoyed both of them if they needed to sub in her class. We would definitely send any future kiddos to Brightside as long as these great folks are there.
I've been meaning to post a review for a while now. However, after enrolling my kids in another daycare center, it has become crystal clear how exceptional the staff at Brightside Academy truly is. Their highly engaged and caring team (with a special shoutout to Ms. Marleena) has made this place into a second home for my children. If I ever find myself back in the Philadelphia area, I will def return here
Ms Juanita is doing a wonderful job caring and teaching my 2 year old daughter, Rose. Thank you for letting Rose make a mess at school and play with playdoh. I like hearing about Rose's interactions with the other children. We needed to make a poster about our daughter as homework, which was fun as a family. We appreciate Ms Juanita checking in with us by phone during the COVID times. My wife and I have been attending this center for the past 3 years since our daughter was 8 weeks old. The facility itself is separated by age. In the infant room, the teacher would coordinate with my wife to accommodate breast feeding. There are outside times when the weather is appropriate. There's a playground for older kids and another for younger kids. In the toddler room, my daughter learned from older kids and improved her social skills and speaking skills. Classroom has different play areas (books, kitchen, sand box, arts/crafts/essels). Even during COVID times, Brightside provided access to their online classroom which had weekly age-based learning objectives and activities. The center's director is Ms Sonia, who is responsive to concerns by email and phone. Front door is double locked with two numerical pinpads. I am particularly thankful that they have NIGHT care as well and have staff between 6am-8pm. Immunization is required. Location is convenient. Facility provides diapers, meals, and formulas. Rates are affordable. The staffing can sometimes be inconvenient and Rose would get turned away.
I send my kid to this place and I really like the staff and teachers here. They are supportive and provides all the insights about my baby. Also they listen to my requests.
