What Parents Say
Bright Horizons at UM Canterbury receives mostly positive reviews praising staff warmth, child development, and communication, though a few parents report concerns about cleanliness and alleged discriminatory treatment. The facility is housed in an older building but parents note it is maintained cleanly with small class sizes and attentive teachers.
I would give the school more than 5 stars if I could. They have been so compassionate and kind to my son and I during our separation anxiety. His social, linguistic, and cognitive skills have drastically improved since he started in the toddler class. Additionally, I always know the school is safe and clean at all times. All the teachers and staff are incredibly sweet and friendly. It feels like a big happy family and we couldn't be happier anywhere else. Thanks for all you do for our son!
What can I say about UM Canterbury Bright Horizons Medical! Best decision that I have ever made when it came to placing my infant (now almost 3yo) at a daycare facility. I work here on the Medical campus and had three on campus facilities to choose from. I also toured many facilities in the surrounding area, and the warmth and compassion of the staff at Bright horizons drew me in I work here on the medical campus and had three on campus facilities to choose from. I also toured many facilities in the surrounding area, and the warmth and openness of the staff at Bright horizons drew me in! The teachers are incredible! I have had nothing but a great experience with them all, and my son has already transitioned between 4 classrooms. The building is old, and there is not much you can do with the aesthetics. Ms. Paula has done an amazing job taking over the leadership of the center! Take for instance today’s “Trunk or Treat”! Phenomenal event. Looking forward to the next few years with my son at Canterbury!!!!
This was our child's first daycare from 7 months, and we could not have asked for a more loving and caring place. On first impression, the facilities do not look like a brand new daycare, but it is because the building is a little older and older buildings look older:) The place is clean and they are very conscientious about handwashing, cleaning and sanitizing, so I don't understand the "not clean" review. The classroom size is small so the teachers always knew what our son was up to, when he seemed off, when he hadn't eaten as much as usual. They use an app that communicated every diaper change and nap start and end times and any other information. And we loved our time dropping off and picking up our son, catchng up with the teachers and other parents, and saying hi to the other kids. The classrooms were diverse, which was important for our mixed race family, and the teachers really loved our son as their own. We miss them dearly, and in a heartbeat we will be bringing kid number two to this place if we are still in Miami at that time. We really couldn't have been happier with this place.
Completely disrespectful and unprofessional place. By far, if your child is black or dark skin, I advise you not to put your child in this daycare. My excitement died within the first 30 seconds of being in the property. I’m glad I saved my child from experiencing racism. I will never recommend this place.
Thanks for your feedback. I honestly can believe that. It wasn’t hard to believe. Just from me doing a little research and the things I gathered about the staff and the center. You confirmed it. It left a very bad taste in my mouth.
