Our son loves the day care. This ist probably the best argument for Bright Horizons Rosslyn. In addition to that the whole team was super helpful to set up contract and everything else within one week. So we could start immediately. The teachers are great, our son learns so much in a way that is fun for him. It is possible to park in the garage for drop off. And in addition to a code secured door there’s always someone at reception or in the office to check who entered the facility. I would recommend this day care center to everyone!
I love BH at Rosslyn. I have experience with both kids. Teachers have always been loving, caring and simply fabulous. But I should also note that the Center”s administration has improved significantly under Ms. Nicole and Mr. E. The center runs smoothly under their leadership. I cannot praise them enough for making the center a secure and loving space for the little ones.
Security lapses at this location are very serious. I live in Texas, and my son is there with his father for only six weeks. Bright Horizons staff has wrongly recorded six times that I was the individual who dropped off or picked up my son. Nicole and Ephraim cannot even tell me who dropped off or picked up my son all those times. The staff has also failed to record several times that a person who is a stranger to me has dropped off and picked up my son. That is ridiculously irresponsible for a childcare center. Don’t trust them with your child.
This location of Bright Horizons is one of two Bright Horizons locations my wife and I feel decent about leaving our daughter at (the other is in Georgetown). At the risk of sounding like complete snobs, we have a nanny during the week, but use Bright Horizons back up care through our work in case our nanny is sick or on vacation. Here are the pros and cons of this location: Pros: - It's cleaner than other locations and much more organized in each classroom. Both times we've used it, the front desk experience has been odd, but once you're in the classroom, they are organized. - The staff are more engaged, friendly, and competent. They are the type of people you'd want to take care of your child. -The classes are capped so there isn't a flood of children allowing more attention to be given to your loved one. Cons: - If your child is quieter, it's easier to get lost in the pack. This isn't a Bright Horizons issue, but a daycare issues. It may socialize your kid, but for newborn babies, it's easy to get lost. If you're in a bind, this is a great option for back up daycare.
------- DEFINITELY not a facility fit for ANY child with NEURODIVERGENCE. Sadly, our experience with Bright Horizons was anything but “bright.” My 6-year-old nephew, who has a developmental delay, was dropped off at 8:30 a.m. on 6/20. Less than two hours later, his mother (who was leading a critical seminar and orientation for new college students in Washington, D.C.) received a call demanding she pick him up within 90 minutes due to a behavioral incident (he reportedly threw something). The staff then threatened to involve authorities if he wasn’t picked up in time. Every emergency contact called to explain no one could arrive immediately, yet the director responded with blatant rudeness, cutting people off, refusing to let them speak, and even saying, “You had your time to speak, now I’m speaking,”(I believe her name was Nicole the 'director') before repeating the threat to call the authorities on a 6-year-old Black boy with special needs. Completely inappropriate, lacking on inclusivity, discriminatory, traumatic, and unacceptable. When asked what de-escalation steps were taken or what support was offered, the director could not provide an answer. If the facility was not equipped to support a child with a NEURODIVERGENCE, that should have been communicated before enrollment. If THAT isn't a red flag then I don't know what is. Instead, they failed to honor their commitment to provide care until 4 p.m. and created an incredibly damaging situation for both the child and his mother ... who is now left heartbroken and at risk of professional consequences for something that could have been handled with care and compassion. If this is their definition of a “Bright Horizon,” I’d hate to see what they consider a stormy day. This facility clearly lacks the sensitivity, training, and responsibility required to care for children with diverse needs.
