Love the Boys and Girls Club in our hometown. They do a lot for the community and the children!!
If you want a great place to get your teen started in the right direction this is it. Olivia Wilson and Lauren and Jamar were so good to my god daughter. They helped get her filling out all the paperwork and she recieved a scholarship she would never have known about. Because of their desire to see children excel our girl is going to Nursing school on a full ride scholarship. We are beyond grateful. You could be too.
Went to sign my child up at this location and was sorely disappointed. I was taking her there because she has few friends in the neighborhood. I wanted her to be in an environment where there is close supervision and they strive to push the kids to have goals and treat one another with respect. All things I expected from the organization. That is not what I saw or experienced while we were there. They seemed disorganized and basically all around like they were just baby sitting. While I was filling out the paperwork we were sitting in chairs in front of the plate glass wall. I hear banging on the glass behind me but I ignore it. It was irritating but I wasn't bothered by it yet. What bothered me is that no one, two workers within five feet of me, went to tell them to stop. After the second time they started beating on the glass my little girl turned around. I asked her what they wanted and she said that they were telling her that this boy liked her. What is really bothersome is even after she shook her head no they continued on. My reason for signing her up was to get her away from that environment, which is what her school is like. So she'll have some structure with other kids her age. Witnessing the staff allow this while I was there was the turning point in my decision to never return.
The staff is wonderful with the kids, and my daughter enjoyed the after-school program.
My daughter like it and they do a great job!
