What Parents Say
The Boys & Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe receives mostly positive feedback for its caring staff, community atmosphere, and diverse programming including academics, sports, and arts. However, one parent reported serious concerns about staff competency and inadequate supervision at their summer camp location in Incline Village.
The Boys & Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe is truly the heart of our community. It’s so much more than after-school care, it’s a safe, joyful place where kids are known, supported, and genuinely loved. As a parent, there is no greater peace of mind than knowing my son is spending the day with caring adults who believe in them, encourage curiosity, creativity, movement, and kindness. The Club offers an incredible mix of academic support, outdoor play, arts, sports, and nutritious meals, all while being the only affordable, reliable childcare and before-after school care options in our region. What makes the Club special is the people. The staff show up every day with heart, patience, and deep commitment to our kids and families. You can feel how much they care. North Lake Tahoe is a better, stronger place because of this Club. I’m endlessly grateful it exists, for my family and for so many others. ❤️
It is AMAZING, the kids there (including me... ish) are kind and a really good community to be around, Much better than the Truckee location, and actually has an XBOX and VR HEADSET!!!
If it was possible to give 0 stars, I would have given 0, but Google requires to give an undeserved rating of 1. We have signed up our son for their summer camp in Incline Village and had a terrible experience. I know that finding the right people locally can be a challenge, but we experienced the camp supervisory staff as less than competent, unqualified of taking good care of the children, and their practices harmful to the emotional wellbeing of the minors. The program has a good setup and intentions, but complete execution failure - leaving the day-to-day program to overgrown high-school drop-out types on their phones instead of engaging with the children in meaningful educational ways. Activities are very basic and communication can only be described as a disaster. We just picked up our son for the last time today and after less than a week (never to return!) with no visual willingness or ability of the immediate camp staff to raise their bar. I left seeing my son's friend in time-out sitting alone for being 'overstimulated' -- with the coordinator sitting next to him on her phone and feel sad for the boy. We only met the coordinator Ronda and supervisors in passing -- I have no words, but if someone has obviously not the right level of posture and professionalism to water your plant, don't leave your child to them! I know that some people depend on this summer program and sadly do not have better options - hopefully the quality will improve for these children and families in the future. I also hope that someone will look into the staff credentials and practices (sadly, this usually does not happen with this kind of not-for-profit program), and I cannot imagine this could be up to any official licensing standards. Unless there is a significant upgrade and change to the program's staffing, I don't recommend this program to anyone, unfortunately: A heartfelt 0 stars.
This place is a blessing to our community, our 3 daughters love going and they also love the food ! The powder hounds program is a great way to get on the mountain. I can’t recommend this place enough. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️
Boys and girls club is a great place to go after school and be with your friends and have fun!
