Boys And Girls Club - Tucker Unit

This review is not specific to the Tucker unit, but encompasses the administration building and staff, as well as other units that I have had experiences with. I had my 6 year old niece placed with me unexpectedly this summer, and I had to make some quick, major adjustments and arrangements for her. I didn’t know anything about the boys and girls club, but a co-worker of mine who worked there years ago put me in touch with them. From my initial contact with the administration office where I dropped the application, I was instantly invited into a meeting with Wyatt Bevis. He ask me to share my situation and ask me specifically about mine and my nieces needs so that he could provide us with the best possible resources and experience. He had her enrolled into a center and all the staff at that center prepared before the summer to accommodate everything we needed. The unit director, Russ, met with me the first week to go over how to best help with some summer tutoring to prepare her for school. The employees there are the kindest people I have ever met, and my niece loves it there. As school approaches I found out we had to move to one of two other units if she needed the bus transport. I was nervous, but Wyatt once again stepped in and had those unit directors informed and prepared. When I walked into the Jacobs unit, I was met with the sweetest young lady, Amanda. That girl needs a raise! The other unit’s director happen to be there that day. Both ladies ask about my niece and agreed her best placement would be at the Cleveland State Unit since it was smaller, and they also have Cleveland’s state college kids who tutor there. Whitney was so knowledgeable about not just the resources with the boys and girls club, but also outside resources that would be beneficial. I have been blown away by how caring and nice everyone I have come in contact with has been. From the administrators to the front desk clerks. I don’t normally leave reviews on anything, but the boys and girls club of the Ocoee region is definitely worthy of this review!

My son loved going there while me and my husband were at work! He had fun and learned alot! Thank you for everything you did for him!

All three of my kids go there now, and we couldn’t have hoped for better after school care!

They're great with helping parents that have to work past school hours and every time I pick my daughter up she tells me how wonderful her day was at the boys and girls club! I have to say me and my daughter both love the boys and girls club! Days I don't have to take her she gets sad cause she enjoys the friendly sweet people there, her friends and new friends to meet, and all the fun she has after school! Boys and Girls club is a terrific place! 😃

WILDEST most unorganized place i could have EVER put my child through during summer. every day i pick him up it’s something different. kids stealing lunch, the bullying. multiple parents i’ve overheard having similar (maybe same) issues. when you speak to the staff all they can tell you is ‘sorry, we are trying to keeep a eye out, we know about these issues) i’ve never had a problem anywhere with my child, ever. he cries and begs me not to drop him off at this place. … think long and think HARD before you send your kids here. it’s may just be a ‘cheaper option’ but i promise you. you’ll regret your first week. WHERE ARE THE CHILDREN ADVOCATES AT? what is it going to take to have a safe, fun place for children to go while their parents that have to go to work.. this place needs changes. changes before someone gets badly hurt. 🥵 sad for our growing children.
