I’m a young Jewish woman new to the area and called to seek council. I was told because I am “not a part of the 1700 families that are their priority,” they’re not comfortable with it. Especially with today’s political climate, I’d expect things to be less transactional. If one can’t seek help at the synagogue, where can they?
I went to Beth El Hebrew School as a child but then had not been back for many years, when I got an illness and met the newest clergy. I went from another congregation back to Beth El and I’m so glad I did. Everyone has always been so welcoming. It’s been 6-1/2 years and I’ve never looked back. I found a “second” home where I feel a total sense of belonging with the other congregants and among the clergy.
I have been a member of Beth El for nearly twenty years, since I moved back to Baltimore in 2006. Over the years I have also been an employee of the congregation, a volunteer, my wife and I were married there, and our daughter attended the preschool and is now a Religious School student. From the services to the programming, the incredible support, and clergy unmatched by anyone, Beth El is an incredible synagogue and community.
If there were 6 stars I would award it to Beth El. The members, staff and clergy are all best in class. I am very proud to have been part of this synagogue for many years and look forward to being apart of it for many more years.
I love Beth El Congregation of Baltimore. I became a new member last summer. I decided if I was going to become a member, I would immerse myself in every opportunity. And I have. I take classes, I attend services, and I have been volunteering my services. The biggest blessing is I have met so many lovely people, and have made many wonderful friends, friends who treat me like family. The Clergy and every individual who works at Beth El are the cream of the crop. Rabbis Schwartz, Saroken and Zaslow are my A- Team, and Cantors King and Blatt make my heart sing out. This Synagogue feeds my soul, and I have learned so much.
