What Parents Say
Austin Kenpo Karate receives universal praise from parents for its quality instruction, character development, and supportive environment. Sifu Schroeder is highlighted as an exceptional instructor and role model who focuses on genuine skill development and personal growth rather than profit-driven practices. Parents report their children gain confidence, discipline, respect, and social skills through the program.
Sifu Schroeder is a remarkable role model. His knowledge and dependable support to the children taking lessons is admirable. We have been taking lessons from him for over a year. During this time our daughter has gained considerable confidence, work ethic, memory skills and self discipline. In Austin, there's a karate place every corner between Lakeline and Spicewood springs. Most places would just roll the kids over and give gimmicky belt tests with intention staying fully occupied to pay for rent and gain. Austin Kenpo karate strikes differently. They don't offer the tests until the kid sets the goal and helps them achieve it. There is a definite difference in quality of instruction and class size. All I'll say is you'd be very lucky to get karate instruction from Sifu
The Kenpo after school program is wonderful for my child! We enrolled him because I wanted an athletic outlet AND after-school care, and... I wanted respect and discipline to be modeled for him. He saw a bit of sparring and was initially afraid. I told him he needed to try it for 3 months and then decide. After 3 months, he said he wanted to stay and has remained for 3+ years. During this time, he has socially matured a lot and gets to interact with kids of varying ages. In the karate class, rank is based on belt level. He has learned that he can't progress to a higher rank until he has worked hard enough to pass his belt test. He also gets to help students with a lower belt. Sifu Jeff is wonderful with the kids. They respect him, and the kids know he cares about them. I think he has a real gift for working with kids. I would highly recommend the program to parents who want their kids to learn more about karate, respect, and dodge ball while hanging out in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. I am so glad that our child is attends.
Great place to learn self-defense, get in shape, and make friends. I'm part of the adult training program and really enjoy it. Class is always challenging without being threatening. You will learn to push yourself, stand up for yourself, and to make your body do things you didn't know it could do. I started just shy of my 40th birthday, overweight, with hypertension, back pain, and other body-disuse related disorders. I have lost 4 inches on my waist while putting on significant muscle, especially legs, back, and shoulders. Back pain is gone, flexibility is improved, and blood pressure is getting better. I can also defend myself. Sifu Schroeder knows what he's doing, teaches tested techniques, and will get you to push yourself as far as you can go. Kenpo classes are the highlight of my week. My only complaint--and it's not really a complaint--is that there aren't enough adults students involved in the adult program. Perhaps you can help with that. :)
We absolutely love Sifu! He is a great role model for children and such a great influence. I have not encountered many these days that have the kind heart, patience, care, and dedication that Sifu does. He is one of a kind and is amazing with the children and his instruction. Kenpo's goals and missions are wonderful and teach children life skills to use later on as well as character. I am not only amazed but extremely grateful and thankful, we have he opportunity to be a part of such a well designed, dedicated, family type environment Kenpo has offered. My son loves Sifu and is very happy to be in this program as he looks forward to it weekly!
I've been training here for ten years, since I was eight, and I can say that it has had a profoundly positive effect on my life both physically and mentally. I would highly recommend going here, even if just for a ittle bit, if you or your kid has ADHD like me.
