What Parents Say
Aurora Children's Early Learning Center receives mostly positive reviews from satisfied long-term families who praise the caring staff, nurturing environment, and strong community feel. However, a few recent reviews highlight concerns about illness management policies, staff turnover communication, food quality, and responsiveness to inquiries.
We have been part of this daycare family for nearly 4 years, and it has been one of the best decisions we’ve made for our children. Even while we were building our home, we drove all the way from University Heights because we knew there was no other place that could offer the same level of care, support, and love. The teachers and director are truly incredible—you can reach out to them at any time and always feel heard and supported. The communication and personal attention here are unmatched. Most importantly, our two daughters absolutely love it. They are excited to go every morning, and it has been amazing to watch them grow, learn, and thrive in such a nurturing environment. Our oldest daughter also attended her very first summer camp here this year and had an amazing time. She built lasting friendships, and we as parents have connected with other families along the way, which has been such a gift. This is far more than a daycare—it’s a true community where children and families are welcomed, supported, and celebrated. We are so grateful to have found this place and cannot recommend it highly enough!
Both our boys attend - one is in the before and after care and the other in the Pre-K class. We've been attending for three years now and have always had a positive experience. The staff are warm and caring and always appear happy to be there and genuinely seem to care for the children. The kids play outside whenever the weather permits and when it doesn't they have group led physical activities to help kids burn off energy. The smaller size means that we know most of the other children and their parents. My husband and I highly recommend Aurora Children's Early Learning Center.
We switched to ACELC from another local provider... we have never looked back or regretted our decision. It feels like dropping my boys off to family every day. It's homey, it's structured, my sons come home with craft projects almost daily! They strive to get the kids outside every day, the in-class toys/manipulatives/projects are swapped out regularly to keep things fresh! A definite must- see option if you're lucky enough to get a spot!
Fantastic learning environment with teachers that truly care about the children. Our two children were treated like family. I highly recommend Aurora Children’s Early Learning Center.
Pros - My child was in preschool and loved Miss Carla and Miss Judy. They were the two consistent teachers and they were both phenomenal . Cons - Very loose rules on sick kids. I got a call that my child was sick with a fever and told that I didn’t have to pick them up. (I did). We paid for full time and my child hadn’t attended one full week of school since the beginning of the year due to illness. Yes kids get sick however, the lax rules I feel made it much worse. The only time I ever saw signs posted about illnesses was the one time I made a stink about not being told strep was going around. My child got it twice in one month. They also don’t monitor that sick kids stay home for appropriate amounts of time before returning to try and prevent spreading. My child had COVID and strep at the same time that they knew about and there were no rules on when they could return. - There are constantly new caregivers in and out of the classes. So many so that they do not get introduced to the parents, including young male caregivers. The only time I was ever introduced to a new caregiver is if I noticed them during drop off / pick up and introduced myself to them. I had brought this up as a concern and was told that it’s too much to update parents every time there is a new caregiver. I suggested a biweekly or monthly parent update email, I was told this was too much. However, it wasn’t too much to send out email invites / reminders for classmates birthday parties. - We ended up packing my child’s lunch. The food quality is very poor. Breakfast always consisted of fruity pebbles and fruit loops. Cheerios were there but kids always picked what they wanted. Pepperoni and cheeze-it’s combined in a coffee filter were a staple snack. I’m not sure I ever saw a warm meal there. Also I was told I was sending snacks that contained peanuts. They didn’t but they had the warning of being made in a factory with peanuts. Had I realized this I would not have sent them in the first place, but I didn’t ever read the packaging that closely. When this was brought up to me I stopped sending them and bought different snacks asap because I would never intentionally expose anyone to food allergens. This did not affect me or my child but my problem with this incident is that it had been a good month that I had been sending these snacks before it ever was brought up to me. I was told there was a classmate with a peanut allergy. I felt angry for the parents of the child with the peanut allergy that these things are not more closely monitored. (To my knowledge there was never anything bad that happened as a result of the snacks I had sent). - When my child initially started I told them they still needed a pull up at nap time because we hadn’t started sleep time potty training yet. They said this was not an issue . They never put a pull up on my child and they came home smelling of urine multiple times despite repeated conversations about this. - The school is very very small and desperately needs renovated. It may just be that it is an older building but it makes it appear very dirty.
