My daughter attended summer camp at Au P'tit Monde 3 years in a row and my son is entering his second year there and we love this school! The teachers are absolutely amazing and caring, there is a good size playground for children of all ages and the kids love all the arts and crafts they get to bring home! As a mom, I love that they provide all lunches and snacks. No need to pack anything! It's the perfect environment to make sure my children continue speaking French outside of home and build a sense of French identity. Added bonus: there is a free and large dedicated parking lot! I really appreciate that we don't have to be stuck in a long car line or struggle to find street parking. Would absolutely recommend!

If you are looking for an amazing daycare that will treat your kids like family would look no further! I sent all of my 3 kids here and I believe the level of care and love is unmatched. From the Director Lynda, to the teachers Virginie, Oussam, Nadia and others as well as the cook they are all a cohesive team that work together and create an absolute amazing environment where kids thrive. 100% would recommend!

My son attended the school for the last year. He loved it, and so did we! Caring teachers, good physical activities and arts, and meals are also included. As a family with three languages spoken at home, it was great to get the French reinforced at school. Our kid has made a lot of progress linguistically while attending APM. We highly recommend!

There are schools, and then there are ecosystems—environments that don’t just warehouse children until parents can pick them up, but instead cultivate a rhythm of learning, play, community, and cultural immersion. Au P’tit Monde in East Palo Alto strikes me as firmly in the latter camp. The basics: it’s a full-day program, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with a tight student-teacher ratio (two teachers for a maximum of fourteen children). The mornings are structured around academic learning—yes, kids here learn to read and write in French before kindergarten—and afternoons are reserved for play. This balance of rigor and unstructured exploration is the kind of design that aligns with decades of research in early childhood education: kids thrive when they oscillate between effortful learning and joyful play. The immersion here is real. Everything is in French, which is not only linguistically enriching but cognitively expansive. Importantly, the staff recognizes the developmental challenge of transition: for the first two to three months, English is woven in to help new students find their footing. Children are given latitude at the start, and with looser expectations (at first) they ‘explore-to-adapt’. This is an approach consistent with attachment-informed practices. It’s ‘scaffolding’ in action. That said, I’d advocate for sustained English reinforcement beyond those initial 3 months. Language immersion works best when complemented by bridges to the child’s dominant tongue. The structure of the day is sensible and human: lunch at 11:45 (teachers eat the same food, a subtle but powerful gesture of community), naptime from 1:00 to 2:50, then a mix of themed activities (themes rotate monthly). Meals are provided year-round, sourced from Costco with halal meat options, which reflects a respect for dietary diversity. The social dimension matters, too. Parents are invited for holiday parties—a small but meaningful way to build community among families. Kids, left to themselves, tend to default to English when speaking with each other, which is developmentally appropriate and, frankly, fine. In terms of discipline and support, the school eschews elaborate behavioral incentive systems. Instead, they opt for a simpler, more transparent model: separation when necessary, explanations, and time-outs. Responsibility for ongoing behavioral expectations is rightfully expected to come from parents/caregivers. For kids struggling academically, the staff makes room for one-on-one support, often in the afternoons, ensuring no one slips through unnoticed. There’s also the practical: this is a year-round program with two weeks of break, starting September 2nd. During the summer, children had the opportunity to join camp days for short acclimation visits, which served as a thoughtful bridge into the school year. At its core, Au P’tit Monde offers children the experience of being in school—real school. They sit in classrooms, they celebrate pajama day, they begin to see themselves not just as kids but as students. That identity shift is subtle, but it’s the foundation of educational readiness. In sum, this is a place that takes the work of early childhood seriously while wrapping it in celebration, language, and play. It’s not perfect—no school is—but if you want a French immersion program that emphasizes both rigor and joy, Au P’tit Monde is not just a daycare. It’s a launchpad, and at a reasonable price too!

This kindergarten is outstanding! My 4 y.o. daughter has been attending Au P’tit Monde for over a year. She spends more time there than I at work because I drop her in my way to work and pick her up when I come back. The director, Lynda, and the staff provide a safe, rich and loving environment for all the kids. Not a single day, I have been worried about her happiness and well-being which for a father is priceless. Moreover, the director is amazing, she’s in top of every detail that happens in the facility, knows every kid, mother and father by their names and she’s the first to come and the last to go. Every teacher is knowledgeable, extremely caring and looks after every kids. There’s a full-time cook in the facility to assure warm and fresh meals for all the kids. The entire institution is like a warm family where your kid will be happy. And extra plus is that your kid will express in French even if you don’t speak it at home as us. Thank you for creating such a heart-warming place for my daughter!
