This is a Welcoming church. Awesome people. great teachers, excellent music, and Kids ministry. but like all churches, this one also has downsides. Politics is mixed in way more than in should be. there is certainly some christian nationalism going on here. Be prepared to give at least 10 percent of your income minimum in order for the pastor to consider you "generous" but He will peddle as much as he can get from you. Also, dont disagree with the pastor on even a minor issue and confront him about it. He will hide behind his degrees and experience and basically tell you that you are wrong in a passive and arrogant way. People like this think they have it all figured out and there is nothing new for them to learn. The pastor is also not empathetic when it comes to "church hurt" he doesnt adress the underlying issues with the church that are causeing it. He basically tells you to get over it and move on, basically adding to your negative experience with the church. so if you have had a bad experience with another church, going here will not help you heal. This church is part of southern baptist convention even though that is hidden by taking it out of their name, so that comes with its own list of cons like decisions the church wishes to make must be cycled through the convention for approval as well as minimizing independant thinking in preference to the conventions established narrative. But wherever you end up going to church, dont leave your critical thinking skills at home, test everything you are told. make sure you are part of something that builds the kingdom and not just a church building and a vacation home for the pastor.

Love this church! The people are kind, the worship brings glory to God, and the preaching is from the Word of God. So thankful to be a part of this church family!

I attended the church on several occasions last year in 2017 while visiting/staying with family in Virginia Beach and enjoyed the message and really took in the messages as they applied to my life. The only concern I have to express is that I filled out a guest card to inquire about my interest in possibly joining a ministry group such as feeding the homeless (if they had such a group). I was contacted by a text instead of a call or even an email would have sufficed. I think "text" messaging is so impersonal regarding certain types of communication. So for that reason I don't desire to join but will attend sometimes....it sort of reflect the heart of the pastor since he's the shepherd (man of God)of that body of that church.... I will keep them in prayer that they will show improved more personal way of following up on guest inquiries.

It's pretty sad that a place that I know receives donations hand over fist claims to be about community and christian but will turn a homeless chick away in tears who spent the last fumes of gas specifically to get there because they told her they help with gas and food gift cards before. But they acted like it was a huge inconvenience to be asked for help and said they didn't think they had any way to. Then the pastor came back and said no I don't have a gift card. Didn't even say hey I'll pray for you or act even a little like he cared. The people who go there seem kind and giving but I'm afraid they think they're actually tithing to a good cause when really their pastors very obviously only care about the people who can give them money.
