What Parents Say
Anne Pitts Child Development Center receives mostly positive reviews, with parents praising the emphasis on outdoor play, attentive staff, and caring environment. The facility is noted for its spacious grounds and professional teachers who engage with children rather than phones. One parent reported a negative experience regarding nap time accommodation and staff responsiveness to concerns.
Our son has been attending APCDC for 8 months now. He absolutely loves it here. He has his friends that he adores and the teachers that he loves to death. It is a wonderful environment and we are so thankful they accepted our child.
When my son got custody of his 5 year old son, he asked me to help him find a day care. I spent a lot of time asking around including my sister-in-law who is a teacher in Lexington. I got nothing but wonderful reports of Anne Pitts. I was also told they have a waiting list so I was hopeful before our visit. I couldn't have been happier that he got in. The children are watched and cared for. Being at APCDC has helped my grandson adjust to his new life and I wouldn't trade it for the world. He comes home every day covered in dirt, I mean covered in fun! It's great to see kids outside playing and yes they do get dirty. That is missing in the lives of children these days and I think it's priceless! I wish I could give them more stars!
My 4 year old daughter and almost 2 year old son attend daycare here. It’s a close community and I love how they value outside play time. I come at random times to drop off and pick up my kids and I am always pleased with what I see. Teachers are not on phones, and kids are interactive. I viewed many surrounding daycares and I couldn’t say the same for them. I was also impressed with what I saw the preschoolers were learning and I’m excited my daughter starts their preschool program this year! I am an educator and my assistant principal recommended this place to me. Many parents are in the education field or medical field. I drive far out of the way from my house so my kids can attend here but I think it’s worth the drive and their steep drive way.
The bad review on here blows my mind. I took my child here years ago and it was the absolute best. It's not a typical facility. There is tons of outdoor space for kids to run around, get sweaty, and dirty. That might not be for everyone but the harder my kid plays outdoors rather than inside a small classroom, the better in my opinion. We moved away after a few years but moved back to the last year. We live over in Ballentine now but make the drive here for our younger children because it's the only place I trust. After 10 years with DSS I feel like I have a pretty good read on daycares. I could not be happier with Anne Pitts CDC and how it is run.
Wish I could leave less than one star. Don’t make the same mistake that I did. Very poor care. Despite my leaving a nice map mat they had my child napping on an old shaggy used u-shaped toilet rug. I would’ve never known had I not stopped in early one afternoon. “Teacher” refused to allow him to use the mat I brought despite other kids having their own nap mats. She was unkind and uncooperative and the head administrator backed up her teacher rather than address any problems. Run.
