What Parents Say
Alpha Preschool Academy receives mixed reviews with strong praise for academics and staff compassion, but significant concerns about health and hygiene practices. Parents report children make impressive developmental progress, though some experienced serious issues with sanitation, discipline inconsistency, and administrative communication.
This school saved my life. As a medical professional that works overnight, the staff stepped in where I just simply couldn't. My daughter started at 1 and couldn't even feed herself. Now at 2, we are having full blown conversations. Sometimes I forget I'm speaking with a toddler. I'm truly amazed at how much they have taught her in such a small amount of time. She is eager to go school and interact with her teachers and friends. They have shown so much compassion towards her and I'm truly blessed to have found such an awesome facility.
Academics are amazing! Within 5 months, my child learned shapes, letters, numbers, days of the week, and months of the year. Hats off to Ms. K! She did an amazing job with the academic side of my child's development. Unfortunately, I also have to report about the other side of my experience with the school. (1) On two occasions my child was not allowed to return to school the next day for having "diarrhea" which actually only turned out to be runny stool and no sickness, accroding to a doctor. I missed 2 days of work for that and I was notified both times around pick up making it very difficult to secure a babysitter for the following day. (2) My child was coming home with dirty hands every day! One day I picked up and observed the teachers for a bit and I saw a teacher wash my child's hand with WATER ONLY (NOT ONE DROP OF SOAP WAS USED). Imagine a class of 22 toddlers running around with hands that have only been rinsed with water...GERMS! Shouldn't they be teaching children how to properly wash their hands? (3) Not too long after that, my child came home with pink eye in BOTH eyes. Needless to say it was because of the lack of proper hygiene (not washing the kids' hands with soap). (4) My child was constantly being put in timeout after I had a verbal disagreement with the director. Never did they explain to me exactly what my child was doing to warrant such consequences. The goal should have been to correct the behavior, but no one ever explained exactly what my child was doing. (5) The kids are constantly sharing food and eating from each other. (6) They claimed to be potty training my child, but every day my child's pull-up was wet. When my child is at home, I place my child on the toilet every hour or hour and a half and my child's pull-up remains dry. It didn't seem as if they were taking the children to the toilet as often as they claimed. And when I would ask how it was coming along, the response would always be "it's coming". (7) The school makes the parents buy "school supplies" for the teachers. Didn't quite understand why the school didn't provide supplies. (8) The playground needs to be updated. (9) Director needs to be learn how to be more professional by learning to answer the phone appropriately and communicating effectively with parents. (Leave your opinion/attitude at home. You are there to serve.) I would have left my child there because he really was learning, but too many red flags were popping up and when my child got pink eye in both eyes that helped me to make a decision.
Not the best place for first timers in school even though this is suppose to be a pre-school . The teacher gives up on students if they're having trouble learning at the pace they feel he or she should be at . Don't be fooled by the scriptures on the wall , clearly not what they stand for .
phenomenal - phenomenal preschool. Best in the area! Great staff, very caring, and children LEARN! wow!!
My son went to VPK here and he had a great experience. I enjoyed going to school.
