What Parents Say
Ages & Stages Learning Academy has highly polarized reviews. Long-term parents praise the friendly staff, caring director Ms. Norma, and organized facility, but recent reviews highlight serious concerns about director professionalism, discriminatory treatment of children with special needs, frequent dismissals of young children, billing practices, and reported safety issues.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this daycare. My first daycare experience and it’s amazing. Such a friendly staff, and my daughter did cry in the beginning however the staff did mention to me her crying is normal due to her being in a new environment. Within about a week and half my daughter got used to it and now runs in the door, she loves it. So happy I found this daycare !! :)
The lack of professionalism is insane. Went in to speak with the director for child care for my 3 year old autistic child. I was very open and upfront with my situation and the schedule I was needing for my son. I also made the director aware that I do have CCS and they would provide assistance with my son during his time in daycare. I also advised her that my son is nonverbal and his form of communication can at times be physical BUT that is why I would have the assistance with him during the day. She made a comment saying “why don’t you try a facility that deals with Autism” which for one is unprofessional and for two how is my son any different from any other child? She was quick to label him and very quick to make unnecessary comments. I am a parent to a child with special needs I don’t need ANYONE labeling my son and I most definitely will speak for my child who can’t speak for himself. So I told her how I felt about her rude comment and when I thought she couldn’t make it worse, she did. Kept going with her comments and as I was walking out of the daycare yells at me “ LET ANOTHER KID HIT YOUR KID” who does this lady think she is to be talking to a parent that way? And if I could I would take my sons autism away in a heart beat but I can’t so I’m doing what any parent would and that’s standing up for him. She has no sense of emotional intelligence especially under my current circumstances and my special needs child. Slamming the door as I walked out was very uncalled for to top it all off. I can’t believe I experienced this and I will be looking into making a complaint through CCS.
EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. Explained my son has autism and immediately was told there was no room for him. While explaining I would have assistance with ccs for his autism director was very judgmental. As I walked away she told me “LET ANOTHER KID HIT YOUR KID” because my son gets overstimulated and nonverbal his communication happens to be physical (which is why he has assistance) she yelled as I walked out the door. DO NOT put your child in this daycare. If that’s the way she is willing to talk to a parent with special needs what would she do to the kids?
Ages and Stages childcare is by far another great selection for my children, I have had my three year old son and 10 year old daughter here for 1 year. They have had fun and learned a few things from the center. Being a big help after school with providing rides is such a blessing. Because as a full time working parent I don’t have to rush home she offers after school transportation. With her gratitude and her ability to maintain alerting parents about closures of center I have been able to arrange my days and weeks accordingly for when center is closed for holidays. Can’t wait for another school year for my kiddos to enjoy at this center. My children have not had any concerns that have alarmed me to take them out of this center. God bless and prosper
In my experience, this center will send a child home for anything. My son who is three years old was barely there one month and never received one full week of care. The first week he was sent home for crying during nap time. The second week he was sent home for not listening to a teacher and Norma said it was too stressful for the teacher and she rather send a child home than lose her staff. Then the center closed for a whole week for “Summer Break” but meanwhile is collecting payments for full time care and reporting to CCS that they are providing full time care so they can collect funds. After the week summer break the center remained closed on account of “Covid.” I question the validity of that excuse. Now this week I received a report that my three year old hit the teacher because he didn’t want to take a nap so he was sent home for the day and suspended for An additional day. I understand hitting is unacceptable but this is a three year old toddler. When I asked Norma What we can do to try to instill better behavior and teach not to hit and that naps are necessary she responded that they don’t teach kids one on one, if they can’t learn in a group then they can’t be there and she will continue to send him home. I let her know I would notify the state that she was refusing care and still collecting money for full time care and she told me I posed a threat and stated she is ceasing care for both of my children and they are not allowed back at the center then said she is blocking my phone number. The director lacks emotional intelligence, does not adhere by guidelines imposed by the state, and is collecting full time pay for part-time work. My son is also potty trained but because the workers are too lazy to actually deal with children they continued to put pull ups on my child. My child let them know he can go potty and they forced him to wear diapers. Please take into consideration this post if you are a full time working individual and are looking for full time care for a child in a learning environment that is nurturing and patient. This is not the center to utilize. They will take your money, make you leave work at least once a week, force you to find alternative means of care, then drop your child from the center without warning when you try to communicate concern. I would NEVER recommend this facility to anyone!
