What Parents Say
Adamstown YMCA is a center-based facility in Pennsylvania with mixed reviews. While some visitors praise the helpful staff and pleasant atmosphere, others report concerns about cleanliness, maintenance, and facility management.
The Adamstown YMCA hosted our annual Red Cross blood drive on Friday May 23rd 2025. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. Look forward to working with them again.
Since the long-time front desk person, Lisa, left, the facility cleanliness as declined significantly. She basically managed the front desk personnel and regular facility upkeep (bathroom, floor cleaning). The floors are always dirty, the bathrooms have run out of supplies frequently and no one knows where they are located), and summer camp supplies are still out in the gym in December! In addition, they seem to be piping in some kind of horrible air freshener that literally burns the sinuses and throat. I know two older adults and 1 family who are going to other facilities now because they are sensitive or have lung issues. Management needs to research the danger of these air fresheners, especially in a place where people breathe heavier and deeper when working out. Studies show they can cause lung issues. If there is a concern about odors, maybe just mop the floors and clean equipment regularly instead of using dangerous chemical fragrances to cover up odors.
Ok. For the price it could be cleaned better. Dust and hair everywhere. Definitely dated machines. Last gym I was a member at was only $10 more and was cleaned throughout day with a full set of equipment. Only switched due to distance and timing.
Needed to get a workout in while on the road. Clean, well run, and very pleasant, helpful staff. I'll be back when I'm in town again.
Used to live right near it was not so big but it was fun to go there and have fun with NY friends
