What Parents Say
Active Imaginations receives overwhelmingly positive feedback from most parents, with praise for caring staff, clean facilities, strong curriculum, and effective communication. However, one parent reported a serious incident involving harsh treatment of their child by a teacher and concerns about lack of camera access for review.
We absolutely love the Daycare Director at this location. She worked at JCPS Schools for 35 years and her husband also works for the daycare assisting with the catering program. Everyday we are greeted by the administrative assistant that knows every child by name and assures all paperwork is up to date. Our newborn started at 8 weeks old and everyday I feel like he is loved and well taken care of! Our child is now 6 months old. He is always happy when I pick him up and he has never once had a diaper rash. If there is any concern at all regarding my child’s health or fussy behavior, they communicate with us at once. I have scheduled pediatrician appointments based on their feedback. This daycare focuses on the children and it’s 100% apparent! They pay their employees fairly and I believe they have an incentive program for employees with children. As a business owner myself, these incentives matter for the high quality caretakers they hire.
The teacher in the 3–4 year old classroom is very rude and offensive when dealing with the children. She pulled my son by the arm and yelled at him. My son was never able to adapt there. When he told me what happened, I went to the office to ask to see the cameras, and they said the cameras are only for live viewing. On top of that, they expelled my 3-year-old son, saying he had bad behavior. When I arrived, they had him standing in the office facing the wall. After this experience, it was very hard for my son to adjust to another daycare. I would never go back to this place or recommend it to anyone. The way they treat children is terrible, and it’s really sad because we trust them with our kids. My question is: if my son was as aggressive as they said, why isn’t he showing any of that behavior now? He’s in another daycare where he adapted perfectly, and I haven’t received a single complaint about him being aggressive. It was all lies — that’s why they didn’t want to show me the cameras. I never thought something like this could happen to us. If I could give less than a star I would do it without a doubt
My son was a student at active Imaginations and I cannot speak highly enough about the facility and staff.....very caring teachers with a great setup and trust me I DID MY RESEARCH and spared no dollar! Their curriculum is also ahead of the game, your child will have fun but also be prepared with lessons - they do real work to build their skills. Also, my son also never got sick, I noticed they actively cleaned and took it seriously. 5 stars all around!!
Our son (11mo) has been enrolled since the end of October 2024. We started at Active Imaginations after a terrible experience at a different childcare center and it has been a huge improvement. They have a curriculum for his age group, structured schedule with learning activities throughout the day. The meals are catered and nutritious. The center is always clean and you can tell that is a huge priority. During our short time, they have hosted fun events for both children and adults to attend. Communication wise: They use the Brightwheel app for checking in / out and to send messages to parents about what is going on in the center (weekly menu, monthly calendar, newsletter). Our teacher fills out a sheet to update us about his day/ naps / etc.
I moved my child to this daycare 9/2024 because there were too many inctances with my child having daily incidents from bites, to smashing her finger in the door. I have no regrets with our switch! They are well staffed, and all of the staff are wonderful. It smells clean, is kept clean, well lit, and I don't worry all day if my daughter is being neglected or hurt.
