What Parents Say
Academy for Early Learning in Philadelphia receives highly polarized reviews. Most parents praise the experienced staff, low turnover, organizational skills, and children's learning outcomes, while a minority report serious concerns about staff instability, management issues, and facility cleanliness.
AEL is truly amazing. Our daughters have been there for over 1.5 years. Ms. Robin and Ms. Rhoda run a beautiful and well-organized center. The teachers are very experienced, communicative, and attentive. They have had low turnover during the time we've been there. The staff is warm and friendly and we love that all the teachers know all the kids' names. The center has an enormous outdoor space, which is unique in a city like Philly. Our girls love going to school everyday and that is a great sign for us!
My son has been here for 5 months and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the new director Ms. Ariel and all the staff at AEL!
My son was only here briefly, as I was unhappy with this program. The turnover rate was extremely high and the teachers who were hired did not seem invested. I felt my son’s teacher was unapproachable, unhappy and was very defensive whenever I wanted to know more about my son’s learning experience. I would not recommend this daycare to other prospective parents.
I did not know what to expect about daycares so I'll say I did not have the worst experience. How ever I did not like some of the experience I had with a couple of parents afterwards. Not sure why that happen besides that the tuition did increase alot I just dealt with it. Not the worst time Ive had as a parent, I think my son was safe overall.
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! If I could give this school less than 1 star, I would. The incompetent staff at this center lost my child's weekly tuition, not once but twice. The director of this facility accused me of spending the money on my personal bills, and then apologized a week later when the payment was found. The staff is unorganized. Different teachers quit or are fired each week, and unqualified staff is hired to replace them. When the director is absent, she allows her mother to run the school, which is worst because she knows nothing about the program. I would NOT recommend this school to anyone! The school is also very dirty. Within a year of my son attending, they had a case of lice, a flu outbreak, a stomach virus, bedbugs, and a fire! I pulled my son out of here immediately after our second payment was lost because that's just unacceptable. They don't even actually teach the children. I spent over $20 on school supplies that I was told had to be in by the end of the first week, but was never used. I taught my child more outside of school than he learned in the program. Please do NOT waste your time or money on this terrible, terrible program.
