What Parents Say
ABC Academy has highly polarized reviews. Long-term families praise the experienced owner, caring staff, structured programming, and indoor facilities. However, multiple recent reviews cite serious concerns about unprofessional leadership, inconsistent discipline policies, staff turnover, and alleged mishandling of behavioral issues and safety incidents.
I cannot speak highly enough of ABC academy. The owner has worked in childcare and education nearly as long as I have been alive, and even worked at my own daycare when I was a child. When I became a mother and moved back home, there was no doubts as to where I would go. However… Ms. Cindie is just the tip of the iceberg. The staff she has brought in and trained over the years truly love and cherish each and every child in their care. Programming was well planned and interactive, and kids were given a safe space to learn and explore. Especially appreciated was the indoor play area… while most daycares have outdoor recess, the facility at ABC includes a very nice size indoor area for kids to get that energy out. My son attended for preschool and stayed for before and after school care once he was school aged. He is now a well rounded young man who serves his community. I couldn’t recommend a better daycare.
All four of our kids went there from birth through age 12. From the field, trips to the talent shows to the educational experience we enjoyed all of it. Our kids were well taken care of and still have a relationship with Miss Cindie. She and her staff always went above and beyond to communicate with us and take care of our children, one of which was often causing some trouble. We are very fond of many of the staff there and I recommend ABC to anyone seeking child care.
**Update** A message was sent out by Cindie recently, asking for good reviews. Cindie lied with her BBB response to my formal complaint. My family was with ABC Academy for three years. For most of that time, we supported the program and trusted the staff. But the way things ended exposed a serious lack of leadership and professionalism. ABC Academy did not follow its own three-strike policy. My daughter never received a formal strike, yet she was abruptly dismissed. Parents are expected to follow rules — and we did. The program should be held to the same standard. The director’s call to me was unacceptable. It was driven by anger, not professionalism. My daughter, sitting in the room, was called “rude” and “disrespectful,” and I was told her therapy “doesn’t seem to be working.” These comments were not only inappropriate — they were harmful. Leadership means setting the tone; instead, anger was allowed to lead. The final impression was equally discouraging: my children’s belongings weren’t collected, and when I returned later, staff ignored me. That disregard for families spoke volumes. On top of that, staff turnover has been significant. While turnover happens everywhere, the departure of long-standing employees — the very people who provided the best care — is telling. Their absence left a clear gap in stability. And when I attempted to reach out via the business’s Facebook page, I was blocked by both the page and the owner. Shutting down communication instead of addressing concerns shows exactly why this program is struggling. Children will make mistakes. Parents do their best. Leaders are expected to rise above frustration and model professionalism. After three years of loyalty, the way ABC Academy handled our family was not just disappointing — it was unacceptable.
My son got sent home almost daily with boo-boo reports from a kid biting him, and Cindy did nothing about it. As soon as the same kid bites her granddaughter she tried to kick the kid out. My son wasn’t the only one being bit and other parents were just as upset as I was that nothing was being done. It took her granddaughter being bit for her to do anything about the kid biting. She even tried to make me pay over 200 when my child care lapsed because of HER ERROR in paperwork because I personally called the Columbus office and they told me SHE didn’t turn in his paperwork and they were waiting on it. When I told her this she claimed I never marked down his times, but I did. It was right in the system. When she’s at fault she REFUSES to take accountability and shifts blame on whoever she can every time. I don’t recommend anyone sending their child here. From my experience I believe she doesn’t care about the children’s well being at all unless it benefits her bank account
They strive to see that all the kids are safe . They are very strong in teaching things. Both my kids and grandson have benefited from their care.
