What Parents Say
Reviews praise the A-L YMCA's friendly and helpful staff, clean facilities, and reasonable pricing for fitness memberships and classes. However, reviewers note the building's age and condition, with suggestions for renovation needed.
As a visitor from another town and a YMCA Plus member, I had the chance to visit the Auburn Lewiston Y. The staff was welcoming, and the community spirit was great. However, the building, which dates back to 1947, is really showing its age and could use a major renovation. I sincerely hope that in the near future, the YMCA can find a strong partner or sponsor who recognizes the value of this community resource and helps make the renovation a priority. A refreshed location would not only preserve the legacy of the YMCA but also ensure that it continues to serve the Auburn Lewiston area for generations to come. Ps I also noticed that the showers don’t have dividers, which didn’t feel right to me. While it might be okay for some people, I believe having more privacy would make the experience more comfortable for everyone.
My son goes here now for the after school program . Abby is so amazing with him and the other children . She’s so sweet and kind . Anytime I drop off my child she is so happy and bubbly and the same when I pick him up. I can tell she truly loves her job and that is so hard to find in childcare . I would recommend the school age program to anyone as she’s truly the best !
I love this place! Darlene and Kevin always make my husband i feel welcomed. Great place to work on your core. Very clean. Lewiston/ Auburn is lucky to have them
We started a membership for our entire family and never had an issue…. One month later we were violently removed because my youngest daughter wasn’t covered under the insurance. Had that been disclosed originally we would’ve never started the more then 100$ membership. Instead of letting us know they decided to wait after taking our money (no refunds policy) to tell us we weren’t allowed there… after the realization they had I asked if we could be refunded due to their mistake and was told “no way”… be honest with people that’s all we want
I'm very disappointed that adults have to have a membership to supervise their kids. I would be willing to pay for a membership for my 14 and 11 year old, because they would use it. I would not, but my 11 year old needs to be supervised, and I am not allowed to supervise without a membership. I briefly considered becoming a member, but the woman at the front desk did not seem to want to answer my questions and she looked at me like I had two heads when I mentioned the discount that the YMCA is supposed to offer my employer, so rather than recruiting a new member, she inspired me to leave.
